with severance packages that ceo's get, they can't afford to let him go.
i've had the same problem as beddoes. i'm actually thinking about buying a pair of jvc noise cancelling cans. the only pair i've ever tried were some random pair at sharper image, which tends to be a lot of expensive pieces of junk. i don't know if it was just those cans or if they are all like that. i guess i'll find out after i shell out the money.
i retract my statement. i just bought a pocket dock from them. that looks very similar. i didn't read far enough. i will probably get one. that would be nice.
damn. i just bought a regular one. i didn't think i'd have that problem...i was wrong.
people will still find a way to break things (or people) in their houses.
this is a really cool idea, but i would wonder about the bandwidth involved. i'm in the market and have surmised that video over usb is not very good. it only flows at 480mbps. that's pretty low for video. i would expect lower resolutions, which i (and probably many other people) would despise. this would probably have video lag and data lag. hooking up all of that (6 usb, ethernet, video, 7.1 audio,etc...) should drag it down so that it is almost painful to use......all of this is just speculation on my part though. i would want to use one and possibly read multiple reviews before i bought one. i do love the idea, but the practicality may just fall short.
that's megabits per second...you are thinking of mega bytes per second. they sound similar but are very different 25 Mbps is around 3MBps. so it is actually slower than you think. don't worry, many people (including tech junkies)don't seem to know the difference.
with vista, you can no longer do ip over firewire like you could with xp and regular ethernet would get done by the time they come out with the next os. this could be a good solution for anyone who has to regularly transfer large files between operating systems...i would consider getting one of these. how valuable is your time, you could use a hdd but you have to wait on transfer in both directions. the deciding factor for most people is frequency of use and amount of data being transfered. that's my perspective.
Firewire is more commonly used in video because it has consistently higher data exchange rates and should be used for more trying applications such as live video capture and hard drive usage. So, yes...USB 2.0 does transfer at 480 mbps whereas standard firewire transfers at 400 mbps. the new firewire 800 even transfers at 800mbps. However, all of those speeds are what it COULD reach, not what it does consistently. Firewire is better for that because of the way the data is sent. USB is more supported because it is more universally accepted and is what more people know and love.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
