Jul 10th 2008 12:19PM How about adding a single fiber optic to the magsafe connector and turning the powerbrick into a full port replicator device so that people can stop longing for a docking station? Don't tell me that fiber optic tech is too expensive. Every Mac today has fiber optic ports hidden in the headphone and mic jacks that 9-5 of owners never use. The MBA could even have a special powerbrick option that has a DVD drive in it. Common Apple, get creative! I offered this idea free of patents to the public in 1999 and nobody has moved on it. What gives? Is it not perfect?

Jul 10th 2008 12:14PM I just hope that the front edge of the machine isn't the hand/wrist torture device that the current MBP is!
Does anyone have a good pair of typing gloves to recommend? I'd love to find something in a retail store where I can try them on.

Jul 7th 2008 2:10PM Until the DRM disease is eradicated and I can get everything in digital form, I have no interest in ebook readers. I don't read for pleasure. I read tech books. If I can't get the book I need, I can't just "choose from our selection of thousands of titles". eBook = Fail!

Jun 26th 2008 1:51AM Is anyone else noticing how HD is somehow vicariously a MSFT product? In order to do HD on a MythTV, you need an insane amount of CPU power, because your GPU and all of its hardware decoders are basically worthless. The end user experience for home media is terrible, and it will remain that way as long as this insane "treat your customers like criminals" business model continues.

Jun 24th 2008 9:33AM @frozo, please post either a link to a Mac Pro that has an iSight, or a picture of weg's PowerBook. I think it is quite amusing that you are wrong about posting "WRONG".

Jun 21st 2008 10:41PM Very interesting. I, however, would challenge there patent of putting the Ethernet port on the power brick (depending on the exact wording). Years ago I came up with the idea of putting a full assortment of ports on the power brick, and offered it to the public domain free of licensing. How could this be achieved? With a single fiber optic strand in the power cable. Isn't fiber optic hardware expensive? No, not anymore. Every DVD player, stereo receiver, and Mac are being made with optical audio ports. (Macs have optical in and out hidden in the headphone and mic jacks.) Scientists have sent data in excess of 9 Terabit per second over fiber optics... I think that will be enough bandwidth for everything for a long while. This could also lead to a solution superior to Green Plug. Not only could you create universal power supplies be cause of the bidirectional nature of the connection. The power brick could server as a universal docking station. I didn't want any money when I invented this. I just wanted someone to make it available for the good of the industry.
