Constellation Orion in BSG: they're getting close! - VIDEOS {TV Squad}
Apr 21st 2008 3:10PM Remember that space is a 3 dimensional space, and that while they may be close on one axis, or even two, doesn't mean that on the third that they are anywhere near earth.
Interesting to see though...
Even more problems with MS customer service {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Apr 6th 2008 5:24PM That's an interesting and sad story. There are a bunch of stories just like it, and I'm wondering how lucky I have been. The RROD has happened to me twice. I purchased a box the day after it was released, and it lasted until Aug of 2006. The second RROD happened Sep of last year. Each time, I had a box to ship out within 3 days, and then a new 360 within the next week. Total time total? Maybe 15 - 20 days.
Even more problems with MS customer service {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Apr 6th 2008 5:19PM Okay, so I am supposed to be shocked that when Microsoft said they were extending a warranty for RROD issues, they meant only RROD issues?
Or is it that I am supposed to be upset that Microsoft charges $100 for other issues? Looking at the information that I received with my Xbox 360, it says that I will be charged a fee on non-warranty repairs.
Okay, so there are a whole bunch of things that could go wrong with my xbox. There are a bunch of things that won't cost $100 on my box. Will I be happy to pay $100? No. But suppose that the repair is to replace the motherboard, or another expensive repair, that way, at the end of the process, if everything goes well, I will be happy to pay the $100 fee.

'I Know My Kid's a Star' -- chatting with the parents {WalletPop}
Apr 3rd 2008 4:40PM I find it interesting that when you look at the family histories of the recent "disasters" when it comes to celebrities and their lack of reality, the one thing that sticks out for me is the fact that they all had parents that stripped them of their childhood, and instead made them grow up too quickly, forced them to do something that they weren't ready to do, and when they finally do grow up, they are not functional members of society.
Don't get me wrong, their are many people who have the same situation that have grown up into actual contributing and functional members of society, but I find it interesting that this parental push is talked about in each of the stories about their lives.
Apple vs. NYC: What's really going on {Engadget}
Apr 3rd 2008 1:20PM To be fair to Apple Inc., the city is not "asking" for their permission. The trademark process has this "protest" period to see if there are any companies out there that have a beef with someone making a similar trademark to their own.
Essentially, this is Apple asking the PTO to look at both its trademark in relation to the proposed trademark to see if there is any ability for the common person to be confused by looking at either trademark.
That being said, think of a non-engadget reader, who is also a non-New Yorker that see's this logo attached to some advertisement. What would THAT person think of the logo?
This is exactly how the process works, and while it's certainly not the best system, it is there to protect the IP of people/corporations from those that would purposefully try to make a similar trademark as to confuse the average reader/viewer.
And, as stated before, this is nowhere near lawsuit level, this is just one of the steps that is taken in the process as a whole. In the end, I agree that this will probably get to a step where both parties sit down and discuss the two trademarks until they figure out some sort of licensing or otherwise satisfactory agreement so they can use their respective logos.
Next generation Xbox 360 with built-in Blu-ray coming in 2008? {Engadget}
Apr 1st 2008 8:40AM Seeing that we get one of these every week or two, I would say that its not. I would be more likely to believe that this is a April Fools joke if it was, "Microsoft announces new 360 SKU with Blu-Ray built in, TBR 1QTR-09."
Deutsche Telekom / T-Mobile demands Engadget Mobile discontinue using the color magenta {Engadget}
Mar 31st 2008 4:05PM Heres the thing;
First, I don't believe that your argument is valid. The letter, in my opinion, states that since Engadget Mobile and TMob both use magenta in their logos, that people may think that TMob is in some way a sponsor, and or related to the post. Seeing that there are specific areas on this page for advertisements, and that the page has a copyright and link to the appropriate information, I'm not seeing how that is a major issue.
However, will a "reasonable person" when reading the text of Engadget, either on a post regarding TMob or a post regarding ATT, O2, et al, see the magenta in the logos and deduce that there is a relationship between the two entities. Further, looking at the audience that actually reads Engadget Mobile would be called into question, and I believe that the answer to either question, rather it be an Engadget reader or not, I believe that neither would be confused by this color.
The tone of the letter is business like. While many other businesses would put the same letter in a threatening tone, I will say that DT is simply putting an appropriate tone to the subject matter.
Deutsche Telekom / T-Mobile demands Engadget Mobile discontinue using the color magenta {Engadget}
Mar 31st 2008 2:47PM Please, please fight this. I'd like to see just how far they are willing to go to combat the use of a color! Not even a unique color like T-mobile green. Is this where the world has gone to? Quibbling over a silly color in a blog's name? WTF?!?
