JVC shows off 8k x 4k D-ILA projector, asks when SHV is dropping by {Engadget HD}
Oct 11th 2008 2:34PM I love these contrast ratio claims. Let's claim something that 0.00001% of the population could dispute. And if they cannot dispute it, then it must be true. And in this cowsumer nation of soon to be slaughtered fodder, it doesn't really matter when the entire article is for nothing.
Poll: Which Blu-ray studio is your favorite? {Engadget HD}
Oct 11th 2008 2:32PM I honestly couldn't answer this without doing some research. The reason is simple: I watch movies and not studios. Doh!

Oct 10th 2008 7:35AM Someone buying a smartphone because of its look cannot be all that smart. You deserve to be with the iPhoneans--the form over function people.
Plasma surprisingly gaining ground on LCD? {Engadget HD}
Oct 10th 2008 7:30AM Cowsumers buy into marketing. They never ask if they are really benefiting from the marketing of resolution, or contrast ratio performance, or color resolution, etc. yet they are willing to pay more for the extra bit of marketed value.
Personally, I do not know a single person who sits within the maximum viewing distance based on a unit's pixel resolution and their visual acuity so that they actually can see what they are paying for.
As such, all of these so-called news articles are worthless and never address the real cowsumer issues. For instance, for my seating distance I could benefit the most from a 768P 58" because of my seating distance. Unfortunately, those panels are long gone. And in order to get 1080P panel up to speed it'd have to be 65" or larger.
DirecTV now carrying HD locals in 100 markets {Engadget HD}
Oct 10th 2008 7:24AM Instead of being a product-placement entity to gain marketing dollars, EngadgetHD should consider being critical for once and report how many of those markets actually have more than 50-75% HD channel representation. I know Atlanta has about half the stations with zero effort on DirecTV's part to making that any better.
New Xbox 360 dashboard coming November 19th {Engadget}
Oct 9th 2008 8:02AM Probably the biggest complaint I hear, both at home and in the office, about Microsoft Office 2007 is that the changes that Microsoft made in basic user functionality was a 10-year step-backwards condition. I have to wonder if this "let's make it different, not better" approach is going to take shape on the dashboard approach.
Panasonic cranks out its 300 millionth TV {Engadget HD}
Oct 9th 2008 7:57AM I wonder how many of them are now in landfills.
Comcast jacking up cable rates 4.6% on average {Engadget HD}
Oct 9th 2008 7:57AM Comcast is tagged as the company with one of the worse customer service records ever. They have millions of subscribers to their cable television service. Its the best example of cowsumers that I can imagine.

Olevia's BD-100 Blu-ray player spotted in Target for $229 {Engadget HD}
Oct 8th 2008 5:47AM I do not think the average low-end cowsumer shopping on a tight budget and looking at this product even knows the difference between Profile 1.1 and 2.0. Besides, being poor/cheap means doing without certain benefits in life, no?
