The number of times I have picked up a paper text book I read last year and thought 'ctr+F'...
Garnered from the amazon forums...
You have to pay if you want it transfered to your kindle wirelessly, not if you do it yourself via usb. PDFs have to be converted to mobi format using freeware before then passing to amazon for conversion to kindle format. Conversion not great due to most pdf documents being too large a page size to fit on the paperback size kindle, especially if there are a lot of images.
It's really simple m. Eink is like paper. You shine a light on it to see the difference between light and shade. All other forms of screen produce their own light. Eink produces less eye strain because it works like normal paper.
On further inspection, as A54 mentions, pdf not mentioned in the manual, no support at all?

All we really need though is a third party app that can handle the conversions. That and a zoom option in the kindle for images/pdfs.
So to get html, pdf or mobi files I have to pay to have them converted. Even if I plug it in using the USB?
Are there any zoom options for pdf. Not just font sizes, but actual zoom, including graphics?
when in the UK?

"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
