Just don't expect good service unless you are fairly close to a tower. It degrades very rapidly as self-install indoor modems are sub-par at best. I don't see a good niche for this service, as if you are within a close enough distance to a tower you probably have cable and/or dsl available, either one of which is probably going to give you more consistent speeds - further away and the service just plain sucks. The speeds people are seeing now are mis-leading as the network is new and not loaded down with customers.
What they do have, however, is marketing. Lets just hope our brethren across the pond are a bit more intelligent about it than we have been. With the way they treat customers (not to mention employees), it is very disappointing that Worst Purchase has gotten as big as they have in the states.
Lenovo (IBM) has had this feature in some of the models in the Thinkpad line for years...
It's too bad about the Nokia Booklet being exclusive to Worst Purchase. I won't deal with that store, but the device itself is intriguing...hopefully it will come to other retailers.

Ummm, its not made by Apple and people are complaining - it is in fact expensive and a rip-off. So how does Apple factor in? Let me guess...you're a fanboy?
Why spend $1300 on a mini pc with an Atom when you can have a full sized htpc for less with more power? I never liked the mini pcs for home theater use as they make it difficult to stack components. I guess that is what the free market is for - to weed out crap like this...
Just because you're not using a cell tower does not mean you are not within range of one. The possibility of a hand-off from a cell tower to your picostation (or the other way around) still exists. In this scenario, there could be another user near by that is using the cell tower while you are using the picostation - if the picostation were not synced via GPS it could cause both of you issues.

Where did you read that the GPS is strictly used for defining region? GPS satellites put out a lot of useful information. Cell companies (and many other wireless companies) use GPS to sync their equipment together as to not cause themselves interference. I suspect the GPS is being used for this as well (if not primarily).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
