Let me start off by saying that I watched all three buildings fall from about 4 blocks away north of the towers. Had I woken up on time that day I would have probably been under them around the time it all happened.

For anyone to think that 7 World went down for any other reason than the damage it took from Towers 1 & 2 are insane. When The towers collapsed all of that debris was blown outward into the surrounding building. 7 World acted as a shield for Greenwich street when that happen taking all of the brunt from anything headed that way. How do I know? Because I watched the smoke make its way around the building. If it wasn't there more damage would have been north of 7.

Like someone else said, it is amazing the building lasted as long as it did considering the damage it took.

If there were charges in the building, why wouldn't any of them have gone off when the building was hit and set on fire? Why would they have waited about 8hrs later to detonate them?

7 came down from the collateral damage and nothing else.

I wish people would spend as much energy into getting the towers rebuilt as they do coming up with ideas as to how they came down.
"Can't wait for November for all the PS2"
Should be PS3,

apologies

Nice on Anubis
Can't wait for November for all the PS2 problems to start popping up so people will remember why they should never have bought Sony again. PS1 overheated to the point of melting parts inside. PS2 overheated as well. Now we have another Sony system with all new tech that has not really been put through its paces and every Sony fan expects it to not have a single problem. Funny.

As for the dev case, I guess they had to do something with all those Betamax machines laying around from the first of their failed media experiments so they crammed the PS3 into them.

Wow lag free play over the PS Network, how many people were on when they played? Now Live may have lag at times but your talking hundred of thousands if not millions of people playing on their servers at once, not an office lan party so I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Also still wondering why they haven't release hard details on the online component yet. 3 months and counting, hope they get their sh*t together soon cause MS and Nintendo are going to be huge this christmas while PS3 supplies are about what 360's were last year. going to be a lot of disappointed kids on christmas morning, or broke parents from mortgaging the house to buy one off ebay @ $1500 a pop.
Really, 1Up said Sony came in second. Not surprised by that. I wouldn't just use one sites info. If you look at many blogs and websites most people were underwhelmed by Sony's showing. Almost everyone thought the controller was a cheap attempt to steal some thunder from Nintendo, the games were sub par except for Resistance and Assassins Creed and the 2 sku's completely different versions and price really pissed people off. MS focused on what counted, the games and they nailed it with GoW, Forza2, GTA4, Lost Planet, and countless others. There were questions than answers after Sony's press conference and to top it all off everyone ran right by the PS3 display on the last day to play with the Wii. Sony blew it big time.
Cincy prob put it best that you dont need bluray to watch high def movies, you can stream them through media center. This is where movies are really going. They are going to cut out the physical media to save money and have you stream or download it. We are at a point where you can get fiber optical straight to your modem for the same proce as cable. Thats 15-30 megs a sec. Sony wants their format, yes the one the came up with to win because the money they will make in rights licensing it to the companies. Just look at every format they created and see which has become a standard. None they even switched from Atrac to AAC.
153. you hit it on the head, the PS3 is an attempt to trojan horse the BD format into your living room. They figured people bought a ps2 for dvd play back they will do the same for BD. Difference is that the leap from VHS to DVD is a lot bigger than DVD to BD. So they can fit the entire experience of filming a movie for behind the scenes extra's. I don't care, I barely watch the extras on the 500 dvd's I have, and I'm not starting a new library. MS was smart, they signed a deal with netflix and should be adding a blade to the GUI for it. Soon we should see the true winner of the HD format war, the Download.

I'll buy a PS3 at launch, just to sell it to a poor fanboy for 1200 buck on ebay cause they gotta have it. Then i'll go out and buy another 360 for my bedroom with about 20 games and extra controllers.

Christmas is gonna be fun to watch, parents not finding PS3's getting 360's and all the fanboys crying I want an oompa loompa that plays bluray too daddy.
The 360 is far more powerful than most gaming rigs out, which is fact. Unless you shell out for a tricked out 4grand system you will not outperform a 360. Yeah most launch games may not show it but look at the upcoming titles, Gears of War, Halo 3, Rainbow 6, Splinter Cell, the list goes on. As for the HD-DVD i prefer stand alone players, for the reason most people complain about playback on their consoles. I have a 360 and never use it for dvd, still go wih my 6 year old Toshiba dual disc player. The PS3 has got to cost more than 800, with the cost of bluray, cell, and all the other crap being thrown in I cant see just a 200 hit, if not they would have taken a bigger one knowing they would make it back on BD licensing and software. Controller is a big let down, never like the Dual Shock anyway. I think MS has a great chance at taking most of the US this time around.
The proof is in the pudding as they say and from what I have read so far, Sony did not wow anyone with what was shown. Granted alot hasbeen seen already but where are all the playable games if they have had dev kits out for a while? People still think alot is CGI and sony did nothing to prove it wasnt. GT will be great cause polyphony makes great games but like they said nothing mindblowing and looked like PG3. Lets not forget that PG3 was optimized in only 3 1/2 months. Lets see what the next level of 360 games looks like now that people are familiar with the final hardware. I can wait for a price drop to get a PS3, there really isn't that much thats going to be exclusive that will make me get one at lauch.
Ozz, For me as far as overheating goes, my system never crashed. Even after 8hr gaming session and playing online and dl'ing stuff, no probs. I can barely get through 4-5 songs on guitar hero without my system locking up. and the ps2 has a lot more room to breath where it is under my tv. PS1/2 were notorious for dying, so I cant wait for the cell to melt and people start screaming that their system died.
I hear ya Ozz, just love how Sony claimed to be the innovator and is copying everyone else. I'll prob buy 1 maybe 2 systems, for ebay of course :) I never used my PS2 or xbox/360 to watch dvd's so as far as bluray goes I'll buy a stand alone player if I really gotta have one but with over 500 dvd's I don't think I'm converting over just yet. I think that were going to be seeing streaming HD as the norm soon and get away from physical media so I can wait that out. Plus the price of production on BD media, blanks are $25 each, I wonder what games are gonna cost for this. Also what kinda loss is Sony taking on the system, gotta be a used honda or something close to it.
What has MS ripped off, making a game system? They were the first to put the hard drive in, first with the true live experience, their blade GUI, marketplace and GIANT console. SONY even stole that from them. Hey lets make a console that takes up all the space under the TV so that you can't fit another system, great idea!!! ;P
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
