Didj is not that hard. What I see/hear here is a mediocre at best didj player heavy on effects. Like a shitty guitar player who sounds ok when he hooks up all his pedals. And I don't even think scrounging effects to mount in a didj would be hard. I used to get similar effects playing through a Macintosh Quadra 660AV ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO!
Ok. I feel like the kits available make this look like a serious waste of time and money. What is the end goal?

I have no problem with trying to build a better mousetrap. But I am not seeing it.
It's made of Unobtainium.
Meh. They overcharged for a loooong time for the POS that was the "Wing" too. The ATT Tilt had been out long enough to be cheaper by the time they got rid of it.

T mo is not great on subsidies. Never have been. That said, the ATT Fuze (bought from ATT) is still more expensive than the iPhone 3G, and the iPhone 3GS 16gb, same price as the 32gb 3GS. And by tech standards it's an old phone.

The problem is feature phones like the iPhone and Pre have the volume to realize low prices. Other phones can't match that, and look expensive in comparison as a result. The Hermes (ATT 8525) was $400 for a looooong time. It was before the iPhone set the $200 bar.

Volume and hype have made the marketplace very difficult.
Oh yes it is happening. Have had several calls into tech. And if you don't believe me maybe you can tell my why so many Pre users are being comped Airaves?
How making the cell radio work better so I can get more than 2 bars in an "excellent" service area?
Frankly, the PS3 is an impressive piece of COTS equipment. It is a much more refined piece of hardware than the 360. Clearly the most versatile of the current gen gaming consoles. I don't understand all the hating on the contraption.
It's a med format digi cam at prosumer DSLR price point.
The people who influence opinions with regards to photography, i.e. serious photographers, already have so much vested in standard mounts. They need to get this price point lower, and introduce some serious loss leader glass to lure ppl away from 35mm mounts to micro 4/3.

It's a bad choice for someone just getting into the more serious end of photography because the fate of the format is unknown. It's a bad choice for serious photogs cause none of their glass will work.

Panasonic has a *huge* hump to overcome with this, and so far it doesn't seem like the project has enough backing to make it. IMHO it will be just a side note in the evolution of photographic technology.
Is it me, or does the Touch HD not have US 3G bands in its current incarnation. So that means, what, add another 3 quarters til a HD with US 3G is even announced. They'll drag out the HD the same way they drag out everything else.

I'll take the SE X1 now or the Touch Pro instead of playing the agonizing waiting game.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
