Re-thinking the iPhone's home screen {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 21st 2008 7:45PM Leave the row above favorites empty, have the row be a slider to quickly move through screens. Folders represented as stacks you can assign a custom icon to. When you create a stack, the icon for an app only shows if you click the stack and doesn't appear on the top level of icons. You'll need an app to create stacks.

Jul 17th 2008 3:09PM "When the first iPhone was released, many people said they would not get it because it did not have 3G. The response from the Apple boys here on Engadget was that they did not want 3G, it would kill the battery, it did not give that much of a boost in speed, it was not available in all areas."
Goes both ways, the haters said they'd get it if it had 3G and an SDK. People change their minds all the time. So what's your point?
Ask TUAW: DJ software, concatenated RAIDs, Migration Assistant, Remote Desktop Connection and more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 16th 2008 8:41AM For Remote Desktop action with Windows I prefer CoRD. http://cord.sourceforge.net/
I've always had better performance with it over the MS client.

EDGE and 3G and tripping down memory lane {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 30th 2008 6:33PM What bugs me is this idea that you're not responsible for the funding of the infrastructure. You want an always-on data connection, you're going to have to pay for it. The billions of dollars invested building the system aren't coming out of thin air. I'm not trying to sound like AT&T is hurting for cash but come on, engineering and implementation cost them money too.
Complaining that you'd like that always-on data connection for breakneck speeds so you can interface with the internet on your multi-touch platform but not wanting to pay for it seems naive. How much headache has the phone saved you thus far? Maps? Mobile Email? Getting to your online content from a handheld web browser? Videos on the Go? And you're one of the biggest proponents of the platform. What are you willing to spend for that? Goes both ways lady.
HTC Touch Diamond vs. iPhone, fight! {Engadget}
May 13th 2008 11:53AM Yeah, because Cut and Paste is the final say on whether an interface has succeeded where millions of other handsets have failed.
On a side note, the Diamond looks great, looking forward to seeing video of it in action.
Ask TUAW: Xbox 360 and PS3 networking, extracting DVD audio, JVC video files, and more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Apr 6th 2008 10:53PM Twonky running on my NAS needs mp4 video files renamed to m4v to show up correctly on my 360. However, the streaming solution I have to reach those same videos from my iPhone has issues with that naming convention. Hoping Twonky updates that minor discrepancy soon, I'd prefer to stick with the standard mp4 file extension.
