3 hours is surprisingly short for solar charging. Don't these things take 8 hours or more on normal electricity?
@Pupitmiser

isn't that the point?
@7egend Hmm... tricky..... Headphones?
@catfood Hmm, that could work really well. Nice big curved screen in front of you (big enough to fill your field of vision if possible), rear projected. Might be a bit heavy but could be fun.
everyone always wants things now, and for free. sigh.

Yes, on the surface this looks dumb, but at least its in line with their existing practices. They launch a hardcover, then a softcover 6 months later to catch the casual buyer, or those that can wait (or those that don't like carrying heavy hardcovers on a plane with them - me)

So this isn't delaying the release of the e-book, its actually earlier than the softcover which for many of us means earlier availability compared to the physical book (assuming you mostly buy softcovers)
The quality of the screen is the most important thing on a digital photo frame. Not just image quality and resolution, but also angle of view is very important. Its why I'll never buy a photo frame blind - I have to see it in action

The second most important thing is not to have a giant bloody Samsung logo on the front. Its supposed to look like a photo frame. I've already paid you money, I'm not advertising you as well.
They came up with a name for it too:

Hearst Themed Magazine Layouts

its a bit long-winded, so I hope they can think up a catchy acronym from that...
my tiny, old-school brain goes pop when trying to understand how serial is faster than parallel.
why did apple go with such an underused technology, when things like RDS have been around for years and have much greater coverage? They usually broadcast the artist/track name which can be tagged and later searched for in itunes.

it fails as a HTPC controller because it doesn't have separate transport keys and the arrow keys are not in a cross formation.

very close though, and very nice for light web browsing on the sofa
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
