I have the (many generations) previous version of this - and it's amazing! So much impact when required but subtle as well.
Damn, that above comment was supposed to go here.

"If this is anything like my D2 - it will play AAC files, you just have to rename them to .mp4."

On another point, it's a real shame they couldn't find room for some kind of expandable memory slot on this. This is one of the killer features of the D2.

How can you possibly review an audio player without mentioning what it's actually for?

It's like reviewing a car and saying "well the parking sensors work really well" without mentioning that if you take it round a corner it will disappear backwards into a hedge every time.
That image just show's that there are ALOT of sheep out there.
"Seriously... why would most people want to buy a separate portable device just to play music and movies when most new cell phones now have that capability built in?"

In addition to battery life above, how about sound quality?

As mentioned earlier, is nobody actually interested in how their audio sounds any more? Given the dominance of the iPod I can only assume this is the case.
To everyone whingeing "Why isn't it a (i)phone as well?"

Some of us actually WANT to keep our PMPs seperate from our phones!

Listening to it will obviously drain the battery, which is pretty stupid when you NEED to use is as a phone.

Give MS a chance on the software front!

Anyone else remember trying to use an iPod with a PC pre-iTunes - total nightmare.
How about they concentrate on reducing the power consumption of these monsters as well?
Let's hope Sharp has fixed the 'banding' problem which seems to have affected many of their previous models (including 2 that I've personally encountered and sent back)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
