and the world may or may or may not end tomorrow.
"we would assume, at this point, that each app will be able to take its own place on the home screen."

Uhh...what would make you think that? The fact that people with jailbroken iphones have been adding new apps to their home screens (and moving them around) for months?

Seriously, I noticed at some point that you all started blogging as if the functionalities introduced by jailbreaking just didn't exist, as if Apple had infected your brains with some sort of cease and desist letter or something. I for one, am not looking forward to the SDK. Whoo, I get the chance to pay for stuff that I have been using for free for months! Yay!

And to the guy who wants a scientific calculator....jailbreak--> installer.app--> what do we have here? A Scientific Calc App!!
man i love engadget! Witty articles and then these hilarious comments. I find it so crazy how people can actually get into Internet arguments about products from companies they most likely dont even work for (which still wouldn't make it okay). I love gadgets like everyone else here but to get so enraged at each other is just loony. I own a zepto notebook with vista on it, an iphone, and guess what? Until they cook me dinner, pop my beer, roll my j, and give me head I have better things to than argue with strangers about random unimportant shit like you all. But dont stop on my account, my girl doesn't mind me reading the comments after dinner while sipping my budvar, smoking my j, and getting some nice dome.
ps. Dont knock the word "skrilla"
have you ever been to Germany? I've lived here for the past six years and if I started to explain why it is most certainly not the best country I could probably write a book.
I don't know about the kindle (which is pronounced the same as a brand of cheap beer here in germany that mostly only bums drink - Berliner Kindl) but I highly recommend the book freakonomics. The best book I read in 07, from sumo wrestlers to abortions a lot of "innaresting theo-rizing" and very well written. First book I read completely as a pdf file on my notebook, it was that good!
I feel for you guys in the states, here in Berlin my local gamestop has about 50 wii's sitting in the display window gathering dust...I think Art Vandelay just found a new item to export!
ever heard of google? Its this crazy search thing where you can enter in stuff, like "iPhone jailbreak instructions" or whatever, and then you find the answer to your problems yourself without asking people or having to pay. You might wanna check it out ;)
All you vista bashers must have had a gallon of haterade this morning. Ever heard of a thing called google?? Every driver issue or other problem I had has been resolved using a quick search of this crazy thing called the internets. Sure, its a new OS and that means you might need to spend some time getting used to it, but once you do, you will see its better than XP. I dual boot both, have 2 Gigs of RAM and a 1.8 Core 2 Duo, and it runs like a charm...all these people talking about "it uses more RAM = slower = sucky" either dont understand how RAM works or have an old shitty system that cant handle it. Its all Apple's marketing division brainwashing people, use Vista on a newer system for a while and you will see, its fine for 90 percent of normal computer users, and actually is more responsive than XP. But whatever.Fanboyism and lack of knowledge will always defeat openmindedness and actually learning something new any day.
Have fun with your cool "Time Machine" also known as System Restore...but hey windows copies mac windows copies mac braack! How about you Apple fanboys google Xerox PARC and more specifically Xeroc Alto and see just who really copied who!
let me just say that living in germany the past 6 years has really opened my eyes to how wonderful our (u.s.) free market economy is. Here, people are lazy as hell, have a sense of entitlement the likes of which I've never seen, can call in sick for weeks on end but never ever get fired unless they punch their boss in the face (and even then its not a sure thing), they whine and whine about all these company plant closings, and evil foreign corporations, they work 36 hours a week (don't get me started on the govt agencies, of which some are only open Monday and Thursday from 9 to 12, what type of shit is that ??), verdi (the unions union) runs everything, and all you hear about is feierabend (quittin time). Then its all under the guise of socialism "hey we have universal healthcare, we give parents money every month for their kids blah blah" except taxes are ridiculous (19 % sales tax is just the start) and everything costs more anyway. Thanks for the healthcare, but with the difference im spending on taxes amd gas compared to back home I could have seen a doctor on fucking mars and still had something left over! These germs need to realize that progress and hard work waits for no man and they can't rely on the anything to stay the way it was. /rant
If you click go to the original site and read through the comments, he explains how he made this legal, such as permanently modifying the 30 round clip to only hold 10.
As far as the gun nuts vs. Gun haters debate, if I may chime in, owning a pistol for protection or a rifle to hunt makes sense to me, but why does any normal person need a freakin battle rifle? This ain't halo, I don't think king George is gonna barge in and start pushing us around any time soon, and if we look at Europe no guns does equal less murders. I live in Berlin now, a city of 4 million, and there were like 60 murders last year. No guns, no death penalty, which are supposedly 2 of Americas biggest deterrents. But shit, who am I to say what people can and can't have? But if attack my family I'll kill you with my bare hands if I have to.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
