The quoted price is wrong. As listed on Sony Japan, the MSRP is 30975Yen (tax included), which is about US$319.

Engadget Japan got it right: http://japanese.engadget.com/2009/06/03/mdr-nc300d/

Also worth noting, NC300D seems to use the same 16mm transducer as Sony flagship in-ear MDR-EX700, which has a MSRP of US300 of its own (though street price is US$200 now).
Not that HeadRoom's Mobile Line isn't awesome, but the $100~160 price tag isn't really that much 'inexpensive' when you are comparing them to things that are 1/5 of their price. Of course, price/performance ratio is what really important here. In any case, I'll say 'try it before you bash it.'
This is certainly not limited to China. Discovery Channel has done a special report a few years back reporting the same issue in India. Rural areas all over the third world are now designated dumpster of e-waste.
Where is the X-Wing?
WOW, the GUI is totally copied from iriver E100...lame.
Okay, I might be wrong at this, but I believe the concept of 'life' was announced at CES08 on their main site. It is a kind of integrating service.

Don't have the original page to show you all, but here is the translated page, in Chinese.

Green CIA agents? So they finally have enough money to pay for the phone bill?
'4' sounds like 'dead' in Chinese.
An "assassin's mace" of a device? Quite funny cause that is not even close to what the original Chinese post means.

Here is what the OP said:
The gold plated Mplayer inherits the killer features of 'Hi-Fi sound quality, decorative function' from the same series.
$160? Definitely!
$260? Possible...
$360? No likely
$600? Definately NOT @_@
Great pricing, Senn.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
