Aug 13th 2008 2:16AM Another thing people don't seem to realize is that the pool is also the reason the records are being broken. The chinese built the pool 2 lanes wider and 4 ft deeper than the standard olympic swimming pool, and this allows the wakes to dissapate faster and in turn allow the athletes to swim faster.
the destruction of the records is really coming from a combination of these factors.
