I'm surprised the CP $ backers are still going along. It's obsolete before it gets released unless they pack in some more functionality. 2010 looks like to be the year of the tablet AND color eReader. Competition is going to be maxed out and from what has been shown of the CP to-date, it's a beauty queen -- looks great but no depth.

How does that help you? They can change the terms anytime they want & as soon as you pay your next bill you've agreed to those terms. You might want to check to see if they are going to grandfather you to the old EFT before you buy. I'm guessing they'll apply the new EFT fee though.

What does this say about Verizon's confidence about DROID? From the earlier reviews it seems like a viable iPhone competitor, but now Verizon has gone and spoiled all the fun. First partially killing & now this turd. ATT & Apple are breathing a little easier this A.M.

Woah! Apple is cutting support for a processor it doesn't use and has said it will not use? Outrageous. Might as well note Apple will not support ION either. Hey look it's called a HACKintosh because it's a set of cobbled together drivers for hardware that Apple doesn't support.

Content is king. Always has been. NO reader will become a breakout product until publisher get their act together and support the format. Right now they are acting coy, on pricing and release dates of eBooks. Right now some eBooks cost more than their hardcover or paperback editions of the same title. That's nuts and a huge turnoff to most consumers. Until that changes, and they come up with a universal eformat and reduce the DRM burden eReaders will be nothing more than a fetish product. Publishers are screwing this up in a big way.

Same goes for newspapers. Example: The WSJ is $179 a year on the Kindle while the online site is $103.

eBook? Pffft. Clearly it's an BNphone, the next iPhone KILLER. Seriously I keep reading that no one reads books anymore, yet everyone is beating each other up to be THE eBook reader like eBooks were the next MP3s. Don't get me wrong, I like eReaders and welcome the competition, but until manufactures kick some sense in publishers on price and adopte a (less restrictive) universal DRM a mass eBookphoria ain't gonna happen. No how, no way.

Why to you assume consumers are "settling" for a netbook? Couldn't it be possible that it's EXACTLY what the avg non-geek, too busy for WOW, no idea what chip overclocking is about, consumer is looking for? Not everyone takes joy in hauling a 6lb i7 bricktop around, or has the need for one.

I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. The is only going be be cool if B&N does away w/ obnoxious DRM that locks books to one brand of reader. I have a Sony 505 reader for nearly 2 years now and love it but I've only purchased ONE book b/c I can't wrap my head around the fact that if I ever want to buy a different branded e-reader I won't be able to take my books with me. This scenario is true with the Kindle too. Too bad b/c I'd rather read digitally. The other thing that is annoying is that quite often eBooks cost a lot more than their counterpart dead tree editions.
$100? Surely that is a typo and an extra $0 was mistakenly added. Who the hell does Microsoft think it is... Apple?

These "parties" should prove as exciting watching Aunt Gertrude's slide show of her 1962 trip to Pawtucket. Seriously, OS X, Win 7, matters not. It's a freakin' OS and there is NOTHING exciting about OSes, Microsoft's PR pics, notwithstanding.

Of course I'm guessing their won't be any real parties as MS intended. Most people just gamed the system to get a free copy which is cool. People shouldn't be jealous if other people were savvy enough to pinch a copy from Stevie B.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
