Wow you guys are getting slow. Gizmodo and CNET reviewed this device over 3 weeks ago and it has been out on Verizon for about that long. Don't bother reviewing it if you are going to take this long.
@LAY
Why must people like you bring Apple into everything that has to do with MS? This article has nothing to do with Apple but you insist on bringing it up just to start fights. Please, just gtfo. No one wants to hear it.
@Jack
Yeah MS is not slow about releasing patches. Most of the software problems I hear about concerning PCs are ones that have already been fixed like the hole Conficker used which was patched months before the problem was well-known. Don't confuse the time it takes MS to release a patch with the time it takes users to install.

Maybe because they can't be bought with the same hardware configurations. The display is part of the hardware and it is possible they use different drivers. Maybe only the 27" driver is corrupted/buggy.
F*ck this speculation. I'm just going to order my Eris and get it over with.
@Ruben "One would think thats the case, but since they don't provide anything that there isn't an alternative for, I think people would eventually forget about them after some time."

What company does sell products that there is no alternative for? Every product on the market today has an alternative: Windows/OS X, PS3/XBox 360/Wii, Ford/Chevy, etc.

It is called competition and it is something that Google has proven to be VERY good at.

"P.S. - As always, we encourage a discussion. A sensitive, intellectual, worldly discussion. If you can't infer what it is we're asking of our dear readers tempted to intone on this matter, then please skip commenting on this thread, mkay? "

That was directed at you but apparently you didn't read it so I gave you another chance.
Just out of curiosity, what does this have to do with Apple? I don't understand how an announcement of a new flash memory product correlates directly to Apple. It could have just as easily pertained to any other company that uses that type of memory but Engadget can't stand to have an article that doesn't involve Apple if it can be avoided.

I stay off TUAW for a reason. I might have to start doing the same with Engadget.
@inhuman
People always say that GSM is superior but I have never understood why.

Verizon and Sprint have the best two networks in the US so GSM networks aren't better in that respect.

GSM is used in more countries but most people don't (or shouldn't) care because roaming rates are insane and most people don't travel overseas much. It is smarter just to get a cheap prepaid phone when you get there.

Being able to change out SIM cards is nice but I'm sure the vast majority of people (including me) don't care. I know I would rarely have a reason to switch phones quickly. It's only takes a few minutes to switch phones on Verizon anyway.

In the end, I think GSM may be technically superior but that doesn't really mean much considering how it is implemented.
@Andinator
I never heard anyone call it the 'Google Phone'. I heard the 'Sholes' and the 'Droid' later on but that was it. I may be wrong though.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
