Phosphor E Ink watch giveaway (part 1) {Engadget}
Dec 19th 2007 4:33PM I have a Berenger Diamond in copper color. it's a sweeter tone then gold, i think, and the analog dial and leather band looks good. of course, as with any watch, it makes my wrist look even more gigantic then it already is. alas, if only I had some sort of newfangled geeky watch to wear...
MyVu solo: the $199 iPod-friendly head mounted display {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2007 10:22AM Having tried one of these out after I accidentally wandered into the Apple department at Microcenter, I have a couple of critical points to make:
1) The video screens 'size' is not very large- maybe as big as a 21" tv 12 or so feet away. A computer monitor is going to be larger. Still, possibly it'd be nice for plane flights and the like
2) The picture quality was NOT what i'd expected from a modern video device. This may have something to do with being designed to source from the ipod, of course.
3) I had to wear my glasses under it to be able to see the screen. I have a relatively weak nearsightedness, but was unable to take my glasses off and put these on and still be able to focus on the 'screen'. With my glasses on, the video glasses were both uncomfortable to wear and tended to hit my glasses, resulting in potential scratching.
In general, even if i owned an ipod and traveled on planes and such a lot, i don't think i'd buy one of these. The video screen on the ipod itself seems a better option, and much less complicated to use.

Jun 30th 2007 2:20AM Eh, I'd probably take it apart... or trade it to my roomate for his old(er) ibook.
My G3 Wallstreet doesn't run OSX :O besides, i'm no mac fanboi. But it'd be neat to have a shiny box to run windows on :)
Programmable X-keys Stick takes you to macro heaven {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2007 9:30AM I remember my parents using something like this in the 80s and 90s... except it was just a little paper printout that sat above the f-keys and told you what they do.
Seriously, at least for what the images are showing as examples of what you can do... there's not really any advantage! Cut, paste, save, print... there are already ctrl+ keys that do all of these that don't require me to move my fingers from the standard typing position. The backlit buttons and configurability would probably work well for gaming ( i can imagine it working well in Half-Life multiplayer, for instance- select weapon / buy options, other player options that aren't used constantly but are used often enough to have a button for ) but I do not see this as any kind of advantage for most work-environment computer users.
Still, quite shiny. Hurrah!

May 17th 2006 9:02PM hmm... my IBM Model M keyboard seems to work just fine. Having taken repeted dosings of water, beer, pepsi, pizza sauce, AND my constant pounding typing, it's gotta be the keyboard for me!
