Snow Leopard has been confirmed to work on non-Apple hardware. Though, since the final version isn't out yet it's hard to say what hardware will be supported. Most of the usual OS X86 sites have information and some files to help get Snow Leopard up and running as it stands now.
Os X with the new 10.5.7 patch runs like Windows XP/7 on a Netbook. Apple has done some serious improvements with the latest patch for Netbook Owners. It even cuts the boot up time down by a minute. Now it's just over 40 seconds... which all in all isn't bad! I'd recommend trying another install of Os X you might be surprised by it.
...if you have friends
Let's just hope that Verizon doesn't cripple this "iphone lite" like they do with all their other phones.
This happened to a co-worker of mine. She brought me her laptop saying that her keyboard had melted and that the computer would no longer turn on. When I opened up the machine I saw a beetle lodged inside the CPU fan. Apparently after that the CPU got hot enough to melt the keyboard and itself.

Maybe I'm lucky today
You can do that without the EFi-X. You use the Boot-132 method which is the same exact method and is FREE! You either burn it to a disc or use a USB stick with it on there.

Good Luck!
Be careful, tap water has some mineral deposits that could potentially scratch your screen. Try using distilled water instead.
I clean my Mac Book Pro's screen with a 1:1 mixture of White Vinegar and Distilled Water. I use a 100% cotton cloth (such as a T-Shirt) to wipe it clean. It works perfectly and costs next to nothing.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
