Way too much Apple coverage at Macworld -- it's all here {Engadget}

Jan 16th 2008 9:00AM It's probably just for store-based stuff at the moment.

Give it a couple of weeks - there'll be a how-to up somewhere.

Jan 16th 2008 8:52AM Back To My Mac means you can grab your files over the Internet, so you can leave them at home, and not have to swap out the HD quite so quickly.

Caveats: it requires a wifi internet connection, a Mac you've left on at home, and a .Mac subscription - thus making it completely useless.

Hands-on with iTunes movie rentals: quirky and restrictive, but dead easy {Engadget}

Jan 16th 2008 8:40AM In a nutshell, yes.

Can't see why, really - the iPod Classic has basically the same hardware in there (you can really tell, the new menu system is damn slow), so all the 5G would need is a firmware update.

It's like these 'multi-touch' gestures with the Air - there's no reason why the MB and MBP can't do them too, but Apple will claim they just invented it and won't update the others. That's beside the point, anyway.

The MacBook Air {Engadget}

Jan 15th 2008 4:15PM With how much the Air costs, the SuperDrive should come in the box, and not as a £65 accessory.

Also, toting this as an 'environmentally friendly' laptop is a little ridiculous, as shipping the system back to have the battery swapped out has a larger carbon footprint than simply buying one from a store and swapping it out yourself.

I'm guessing Remote Disc will be an Air-only feature too - while MB / MBP owners have their own optical drive to play with, it would still be a nice thing to have.

Same with this 'MultiTouch' trackpad thing - there's absolutely no reason why the MB and MBP can't do it too, but it'll be an Air-only feature. Again, it would be a nice thing to have, but it won't happen.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but whatever~.

This is a bit like the iPhone - I quote a user from a while back:

"it's the nicest toy Apple have put out, but it's the worst phone to hit the market in years..."

Make the obvious change to the statement, and it's summed up quite nicely.
