Why not have removable batteries with a standard form factor? Then, all you do when you're running out of juice, is get to the "Battery station™", pay for the electricity, and swap it for a charged one... The process can even be mechanised if the create a full on battery and dock standard.
This is indeed the future of all apps I believe... Cheap relatively simple terminals at people's homes, and all the computing done off-site and streamed... There are some obvious obstacles in the way, such as bandwidth, server power, etc, but it's obviously the way forward... Why have every home on earth buying expensive power guzzling super computers(PS3/360/QUAD SLI's) when all the number crunching can be centralized??? Subscription based, it's a dream come true for developers(some will disagree, but think about it, what you pay on electricity and software, you'll now pay it to to the devs)... Interesting times ahead. I hope I'm still into videogames when this happens...
@Zack:

Yes, you probably are. Since when is cyborg a demeaning term???

Hell, half of us geeks would love to be cyborgs... lol
I personally think it's awesome. If every car had this layout, they could turn every two lane road into a 3 lane, reducing trafic for a few years to come...

And like someone else said, there are loads of small engined cars in europe with pretty decent acceleration... I drive an little 1L Toyota that does nearly 50 MPG, and I wouldn't change it for anything else, specially now FREE of congestion charge from september and a £35 road tax!!!
Won't microsoft just use it to cripple XP on order to push people to vista????
It actually competes with the nano, and kicks its ass at that... You need to see it and hold it, it feels really robust and high quality. Also the option to expand the memory makes it very future proof.

The only thing holding me back, is the screen size for video...

Just give me a MOTION SENSOR already so I can buy one of these!!!!

Really, am I the only one who thinks that having an LCD on all the time with no one around to see it is a bit, well, watefull?
When are they going to put a bloody motion sensor on one of this things????

I don't want another piece of equipment on 24/7 for no reason...
Can it be accessed over the internet? If it can, I'll order one today...
I will buy one of these, when some bright spark decides to put a motion sensor on it to turn it on when there's people near it... I don't want to have another lcd permanently on when there's no one around to see it, and if I have to turn it on manually every time, then it's not really an alternative to a real photo frame...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
