Jul 14th 2008 9:34PM I suspect you're correct. Remember how Jobs declared the keyboard and stylus a "bad thing" at the launch of the original iPhone - that touch and the fingertip was the only way to go.

Well that backs you into a corner when a fingertip proves to be a difficult way to select a range accurately - you should be able to multi-touch start and end but maybe that's not so easy - then you have to determine what you're cut, copy and paste gestures should be. Or implement a pop up/pull down menu.

At this point the only reason not to have it is because it would be a kludge that the design religion will not allow.

Apr 4th 2008 1:57PM Actually just the opposite. With digital connections comes DRM, this device exploits the "analog hole" for HD content. As long as the cable and satellite companies continue to send signals to both digital and analog HD connectors on their STBs we can use digital for primary viewing and analog for recording.
