Student athletes deliver value to their universities, be it tangible - like, athletics programs that make money - or, intangible... the increasing of alumni interest/pride, often leading back to more money. Hence the concept of athletic scholarships. And this is eminently fair. If a loaned MacBook Pro is part of this, helping them stay on top of their studies while they necessarily have to be away from class, I really have no problem with that. It's in the name of furthering their education, which they are "paying" for with their hard work and dedication of time. Students on campus have full use of computer labs - this is essentially a mobile computer lab.

If I'm Verizon, I stick the Can You Hear Me Now guy in LA and in NYC... iPhone in one hand, Droid in the other... and just film him loading whatever pic/image/page.... doesn't matter, ATT is going to get destroyed, and they can't say that it isn't factual.

God forbid they post anything fun and not strictly news, especially on a weekend...

Quite possibly the only 10 and a half minute video I'll ever watch on YouTube and actually enjoy. Video, soundtrack, and mod are all top notch.

That's just realistically trying to look at who'd be interested in buying one. We're talking a lot of subsets here. I think people who view these as smash hit home runs vastly overestimate how many people are in these subsets.

And that's not to say that e-readers don't have their place or their value. I know people who LOVE their Kindles. That's not the point. They just won't be as ubiquitous as, say, an iPod - but that doesn't mean they won't be successful products in their own way.
