Hell, California brings in nearly twice as much tax revenue as New York in total taxes, (the #1 and #2 highest taxed states, respectively) and New York's education is placed at #16th. California? #47.

There is no direct correlation between higher taxes and better education or services. As a person who lives in California, a state that BY ITSELF is the 9th largest economy on the planet, and is ranked #10 in highest taxes by capita in the US, I can safely say that tax rate has nothing to do with quality of life.

If you elect a bunch of morons, the tax rate will go up because they don't know how to manage their funds. If you elect financially saavy people like businessmen and former successful CEOs, the tax rate will go down because they know how to properly manage money.

The game is being developed for the PS3, and it will be ported to the x360, not the other way around. We're still getting a native, fully developed game here. So I don't get where you're getting your:

Secondly, your concept of "people who love the FF series would pay for a PS3 just for this game" is a really dangerous thing to assume, because that's exactly what Ken Kutaragi said when Sony priced the PS3 for $600, and just look how that turned out. People have a limit to what they're willing to play for.

Example: I love the Star Ocean series, but I'm really debating with myself whether or not I'm willing to spend the money to buy a x360 solely for SO4, and I'm hoping that Square Enix releases it on PS3, even if it's just a port. More likely than not, I won't be able to convince myself that it would be a worthwile investment when I could buy multiple PS3 games instead, or even better, new furniture.

I highly doubt that there is a significant portion, in a business aspect, of Final Fantasy fans who are "holding out" so they can blow over half a grand to play a 40 hour game. People have other expenses in their lives. Sure, a lot of people line up outside when a game comes out to buy a console, but they're a very vocal minority who get a lot of attention. They in no way represent the majority of people, who already own the system to begin with.

Many Final Fantasy fans who were holding out for XIII already own a PS3, as proven by the reaction online when SE announced they were going multi-platform.

Lastly, of course they want to sell more, that's how they get more money to make even better games down the line. I can't stand people like you who think that companies have to put the feelings of their customers before a profit. Of my friends, only two of us have PS3s, the rest have x360s. And to be honest, I'm glad that FFXIII is being developed for both consoles, because now I can discuss the game with my friends, and they're excited for it to.

Final Fantasy fan != Sony fan, which is what you're assuming them all to be. The Final Fantasy series was originally held by Nintendo, and SE develops for all three consoles and both handhelds. Why should the Final Fantasy series be any different? If you really are a Final Fantasy fan, a business decision to go multiplatform isn't going to prevent you from buying it, that's being a Sony fan.
