Matthew, under the Clayton Act, a merger is prohibited if its effect "may be substantially to lessen competition, or to tend to create a monopoly." I don't see how this merger could do anything but substantially lessen competition (going from 2 players in the market to 1)
If this merger passes regulatory scrutiny, the FTC might as well be shut down because it will no longer serve a purpose. It's hard to think of a market more concentrated than this one.
How much heat does the PS3 dissipate? How hot is it compared to the X360?
Loss leader!
I take everything Thick Secret reports with a serious grain of salt.  They've been completely unreliable lately (reporting iTunes movie rental at WWDC, and a "substantially different" Mac Pro case).  It seems that other rumor sites, like AppleInsider, are more accurate than TS has been.  While I don't doubt that one of TS's rumors will pan out, if you release enough rumors, you're bound to get one right eventually!
I'm guessing the new MBP would be unveiled at Mac Expo in Paris on Sept. 12th. Here's hoping!
#14: I agree that they'll wait for Conroe, but not that they'll wait for a Universal Photoshop binary. With universal binaries of Final Cut, Logic Pro, and (soon) Shake, there's plenty of Intel compatible candy for pro users to sink their teeth into until Adobe releases the next Creative Suite next year.
I read that one reason Apple decided to go with the Intel ships was that PA Semi's design would not have been finalized until early 2007, which would have resulted in an additional year without a significant powerbook/ibook upgrade...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
