Jun 11th 2009 12:44PM IMHO, and experience. Startups no matter big or small, are full of adult cry-baby's. On both sides of the fence. Ones that don't like when there ideas aren't agreed with, and ones that feel like the only thing that will make them feel better is to sue the pants off of each other.
I recently worked for a startup, and the only fucking thing I got out of it was STOCK. The company is still worth NOTHING! I had to pull back, the company just fired there CEO, who was making progress with the company, and they weren't growing at ANY rate, on ANY front. The founder, and cry-baby, basically threatened to take my stock unless I stayed working for them FOR NOTHING. Needless to say no putz, except for me, was willing to do the work for NOTHING, they had to pay some half-capable-amateur, to do a half-ass job.
I also worked for a startup in the dot-bomb days. When I started working for them (they actually paid me btw), there were only 3 full-time employees, when they finally busted, they had 50+ employees, and a giant warehouse. They exploded too quickly, and also things were getting personal, and people weren't actually doing work. It was insane.

I sneered at the same comment.
To the geekier, script kiddies, and tech whizzes who may venture onto engadget, running a python (merely running it), is not a complicated task. I am not a python programmer, but I am sure I could decipher it, in fact I am certain of it. It's a fast growing language, it's a given.
I could see that comment, making it's way onto a photography blog, where the less inept people might sneer, at the use of a non-widgetized self-enclosed application, which requires an actual scripting language to be installed in order to run said script. Not to mention the fact that most of these people wouldn't know there way around a command line enough to understand they would need to execute said script in such a manner.
I digress, the comment was lame, python is heavily used in 3D animation, and as others have mentioned in web apps, so it is/was a really unfounded and unnecessary comment.

Mar 13th 2009 5:54PM Dude you're an idiot. Find me ANY camera, that is doing 1080p60, I have only heard of ONE camera that does that, and even so it only does that to the HDMI output. What you're thinking of is 1080i60 (which is the more ubiquitous and known format).
If I had to guess it's 1080p30,

Mar 10th 2009 1:13PM I found one that only costs $70, uses two cat5e cables, and pushes 1080p, with audio, so HDMI 1.3a up to 100 feet, and 1080i up to 300 feet. I am planning to use it to push one boxee box sitting in my living room, to other rooms in my house, all while controlling it with my iphone boxee app over wifi

Mar 7th 2009 2:49AM I saw this running this past weekend at a tech/film maker forum. I guess the point is that it sits between your stb, and you tv, and provides, weather, social networking (twitter), and video rental (cinema now). It wasn't clear that it was doing this, since the focus was more about bringing the bid rentals to the tv. I wasn't all that impressed myself, running boxee and using netflix already. The SN aspect was also kind of weak. I have an iPhone, that is on me 100% of the time, if I need to tweet what I am watching, I'll just do it on my phone.
Last thing, the interface was sluggish at best, and he didn't show any of the actual services, aside from cinema now listing, didn't even stream video.
I thought it was lame, and pointless. Give me boxee or give me death.
P.a. With all this controversy with hulu, this box didn't include Hulu either.

Mar 4th 2009 3:22PM @Logan M. Someone mentioned that in another thread, but yes I actually counted, and it has 1 less, so very weird. The pic on the box is obviously from a 3d model, not an actual picture of the device. But why would they add 1 vent to the design, and not update the artwork on the printed box. So very strange.
