"What else does anyone expect from a company who has the Death Star for a frigging logo."

This is a common mis-conception- the ATT logo is actually the MOON Kenobi referred to when he said "That's no moon- it's a space station!" However, the moon will be slowly dialed back and the Death Star put in it's stead to improve customer service.
Hot-Swap compatibility is more for the MoBo and OS than the drive. Head crashes due to lost power haven't been a concern for years. The heads are retracted by a spring in milliseconds and the air-cushion provided by drive spin-down keeps the heads off the platters. If you stay within the rated g-load while yanking the drive, you are fine. Preparing for hot-swap alerts the OS and chipset that a drive is gonna go missing, hopefully to avoid crashing your toast monitoring app.
I'll give a plug for the Dell Precision M4400-
15.4" WUXGA
e-SATA
VGA out
Display Port
Can run Multiple external monitors
Available with Quad Core processor
up to 8GB RAM
Built-in SD and 5-in-1 card reader
Better bang per buck than MBP and more expandable.

The M6400 is over $2000 but blows the MBP out of the water with 1TB RAID0 setup, 17" WUXGA, jog/shuttle function, 1GB Quadro video card, etc.
Wouldn't it have been smarter to decide to keep iDen before shopping it around? Is iDen a fad for Sprint, or is it a genuine commitment? How is Sprint's commitment to CDMA in a GSM/HSDPA world gong to affect users in the future?
Sure, you brought your customer service numbers up, but how long can Sprint afford that while buying exclusivity for new phones, revamping 20-year old iDen technology, and competing with LTE? Sprint is just prettying themselves up for a merger with Verizon or Telus.
Plenty of people use PCs to avoid Apple governed technology standards and software.
ARM is the best choice for Apple... until Steve says it isn't.

Honestly, I think this announcement is more about Intel getting name recognition with low-power devices tha n anything else. Intel has alot more competition here than in the Desktop CPU market, and when you have AMD use their older processors which were already more efficient than the cores Atom is based on, you have a problem. VIA and AMD can put Intel in a world of hurt and Intel is just taking the fight to the media..
In the US, GPS in on the internal ATT Cellular Data card. I have the M4400, did not order the ATT card and do not have GPS.
Anyone can purchase this laptop, just use your name as the business name. If you are talking about the requirement for a Dell Business Credit account, you are better off using almost any other line of credit, but if you qualify for Dell Preferred, odds are you'll qualify for Dell credit. I ordered my M4400 and love it.
@ Troels C:
The M6400 is 17", and the MBP15 is... 15". How about comparing the MBP17 to the M6400? Or the M4400 to the MBP15.
Or you can eliminate it today by switching to Vista.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
