Terrorism is a red herring. The fact is that 9/11 was not the catastrophe we've all made it out to be. 3,000 people were killed. As horrible as that is, it pales in comparison to what we as a county have done to innocents since then. Tens of thousands of completely innocent people have been killed in our phoney-baloney "way on terror." Where is the outrage for them? Oh that's right, they are savages in a scary place without Walmart and Starbucks on every corner. The lives of their innocent people are worthless as long as we can exact our revenge. Our response has been that of a mentally challenged twelve year old. And now we are all less safe as a result.

Al Quaeda is not now, nor have they ever been a real threat to the United States. They are the boogey men our neo-fascist right wing have trumped up to scare the idiot masses into compliance. When you see people using phrases like "I'll give up liberty to protect my family," you know that they have bought into the lie that the actions of our government are protecting them. But instead of name calling and belittleing these people, we need to work on educating them. Some are beyond hope, but most people are rational if you give them the chance.
Make sure it is encrypted as well. Despite what some people think, if you use good encryption even the government cannot get to the data.
First of all, the American car companies are not in the position they're in because of unions, it is largely because they have to pay healthcare costs for everyone and their brothers retired brother. Toyota is in a country that has nationalized medicine, and therefore does not have to provide healthcare for the vast majority of their employees. This puts them at a major advantage when building their costs into the price of cars.

And the other commenter is absolutely correct, Toyota makes most of their money off of their own gas guzzling SUVs. While I do own a Prius, I am not naive enough to think that Toyota gives any more a crap about the Planet than GM et al. do. Toyota saw a trend towards environmentalism and took advantage of it. Had they not seen this opportunity, you would never have heard of the Prius.

Toyota sends just as many lobbyists to DC to argue AGAINST environmental regulation as GM does. That is fact.
You know the thin phones look pretty and fit well in a pocket, but; those of us with large hands find those very thin phones difficult to use. Think Zoolander. I prefer a little heft to my phone.
Predicting last year that gas prices would increase is like predicting that the sun will come up tomorrow morning. Not a real stretch of the ole noggin. :-)
2029? Color me unimpressed. If we aren't completely away from internal combustion by 2029 then we're all boned.
Are they being ironic? It's hard to tell with these hipsters. That watch is fugly.
Really? People are going to play the "offended" card? Get lives.

And for the record, the comment wasn't racist, it was a religious joke. There is no such thing as a race of people being of a particular religion, regardless of what some relgions would like us to believe. Relgion is a choice.
I'd use this, but only if I did not have to have a disc inserted in the XBox all the time. A disc makes the service unusable. Also, it would need to support the full standard and HD resolutions, not the little player window they use right now (which is fine for a computer screen, but not my TV!)
Blah blah, whine whine. "It's not San Francisco BART"

Like it or not, everything in the Bay Area will always be associated with or assigned to San Francisco. It wasn't a slight on the (ick) East Bay. Though BART is one think Oakland can have. It isn't the slightest bit useful to anyone who actually lives in San Francisco (but then, it wasn't ever supposed to be).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
