Is this a WiFi phone, or do you need to have this hooked up to a PC to function?
This could be a huge problem. Not everyone wants to carry a holster. I gave my wife a holster for her treo 650, and she rarely uses it. She always just throws it in her purse. If she just talks and tosses it back in her purse without shutting it off, it will answer calls by bumping into stuff in her purse. They should have a setting for this feature/problem.
$650 with no WiFi seems kind of steep for this unit. I am hoping that the new model being released in Europe next month will include WiFi.
Looks promising. I wonder if this will ever be released in the USA?
I would check out an Apple phone if were a Smartphone/PDA. They had the first cool PDA in the Newton way before its time.
Palm had to pull it's sales of Treo 650's off the EU market last month due to enviromental concerns if I remember right. This makes sense to get the EU up and running. After all, the cellular market is much larger outside of the USA.
Too small of a screen for my liking. Boo for no touch-screen.
Could someone buy one of these European phones and get it activated with a new Cingular account? Or would you already have to have an account with SIM card to make this work?
Looks great. I can't wait to see a review.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
