NBC Universal to carriers: add temporary HD channels or live without Olympics streaming {Engadget HD}
Aug 14th 2008 10:38AM Good for NBC.
It's pathetic when a network literally has to put a gun to the head of TWC in order for them to add any new HD channels
Metal Gear Solid 4 plays favorites with dig at Xbox 360 {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2008 3:51PM you were doing well until your summary.
"better all round device?" hardly. As a piece of engineering the 360 is a terrible device. Proprietary hard drive, external power brick, jet engine for an optical drive, countless hardware failures, no HDMI in the original unit, closed media extender, limited codec support, no built-in wifi, no internet browser, poor DVD player ...
You should have said "better gaming system." It's the gaming content that makes up for the shortcomings of the actual box. For everything else the PS3 engineering whips it easily. Apart from the controller where the 360 design is better with the exception of the D-pad.

Sony's DMX-NV1 Bravia Internet Video Link now available {Engadget}
Apr 23rd 2008 1:55PM yep, this has been available from SonyStyle for a long time and it's just as useless now as the day it was released.
Another case of Sony promising amazing services that would utilize it, which then fail to appear.
PlayStation Home beta adding more users this Fall -- in other words, delayed {Engadget}
Apr 22nd 2008 11:16AM Unfortunately Sony started out by selling and advertising units based on what would be available, not what was available at launch or would be soon after.
Most of their original sales pitch was based around products that still haven't appeared. Remember Africa?
If everyone had waited for everything that was promised at launch events and trade shows, Sony would have sold about 20 units.

Verizon sues Time Warner Cable over some dumb ads {Engadget}
Apr 10th 2008 5:19PM I find it kind of pathetic that to fight the FiOS TWC has been running ads that say "all over our advanced fiber network" so they can drop the fiber optic similarity in there. And we can't even get FiOS in my state. That shows how worried they are when they are trying to fight a technology that isn't on the radar of most consumers in NC.
So TWC, how come your advanced fiber network still screws me for 5mb broadband and can't scrape up the bandwidth for more than 20HD channels?
Is it because you have no competition from other cable and fiber-optic services in this area, and can just sit around doing nothing to improve the value or performance for customers who can't get satellite?

Apr 4th 2008 5:57PM "Ladies and gentleman, Windows 7 coming to your PC in 2009!
Optimized working drivers to follow. Probably 2011.
Or 2012."
Apple vs. NYC: What's really going on {Engadget}
Apr 3rd 2008 2:15PM They should have made the NYC logo rainbow colored to represent the melting pot of cultures as well.
Then it would look not only a bit like the Apple logo, but also have the same colors as the original symbol and subliminally represent the address of Apple HQ! A legal trifecta! Apple lawyers go crazy! It's game over man, game over!
