CRTs used in graphics design have anti-glare coatings and do not produce the same level of reflection that glossy flat panels do. Please get you facts straight.
On an aside, I can't believe how many times I've heard people try to use this same tired argument... like they've forgotten what a CRT even looks like. They are not shiny. They have a finish closer to a matte LCD than a glossy.
I say this looking at my old Viewsonic G771, getting ready to be donated. Still works after almost 13 yrs, but I replaced it with a 24-inch matte LCD 4 years ago.
Makes that Apple "PC Innovation Lab" ad spot such a joke. I'd love to see any Apple product take anything near that level of abuse.
When my fiancée's sister was in the hospital her dad saw an EMS worker with one of these. We got the live demonstration. He not only dropped but gave the thing a kick. It was somewhat of a surprise, just how loud the impact to the floor was. Nonetheless, it was working perfectly. His co-worker joked about how he often demoed the toughness of his tablet.
Don't make the mistake of blaming the camera instead of the photographer. Any DSLR has plenty of manual features, including manual focus. It's up to the photographer to decide how manual they want to go.
Hoping the OP isn't a complete idiot, ever hear of the i80386? Or i80286? i8088? Intel has been using the "i" prefix for a fuck-load longer than Apple.
Tripod? Depends on what and how you shoot. I regularly shoot insects at 1:1 handheld with my 105mm Nikkor, and I don't use IS/VR when doing it. When I do this the only thing mounted on tripods are my external flashes.
Hell, I've done 2.9:1 shots handheld with a 50mm F1.4 reverse mounted in front of my 105mm. Same deal, not tripod except for my external flashes.
If this IS is truly usable at 1:1 that will be great for some photographers. For myself, using higher shutter speeds combined with external flashes works fine for me.
Adding to the above, this can appear to be a file system issue when it is not. Be aware that not all operating systems support GPT. 32-bit XP in particular. If you have Vista or Windows 7 you're fine.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
