Pandora pre-orders extended through the weekend {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2008 9:39AM They are just making sure that Sunday is over for everyone before they stop taking preorders.
Digital Cube Telson UMPC reappears, could break into reality soon {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2008 9:12AM Pandora is guaranteed to have a very strong, active development community dedicated to it and its creators promise that the gaming controls will be top notch. The Cube appears to be just another Korean handheld gaming system so who knows if its gaming controls will be any good or if the open source community will give it any love. If it is priced well, it might do alright. Since it runs XP, you could probably install emulators and play homebrew that is already made for Windows as long as it'll run on these specs. I could use a few more details on this though: SDHC slot(s), sholder buttons, Wifi, touchscreen (I hope)?

Oct 3rd 2008 12:28PM That's wishful thinking but Pandora will become the most successful open source handheld out there. It would be interesting to see how well this would do if it were made for commercial gaming and backed by a large company that had the money to go up against Nintendo or Sony.

Oct 3rd 2008 10:21AM It'll ship with a very slim and fast loading OS for pretty much instant on capabilities. If you want to run a full distro, you'll have to install it yourself. If Pandora doesn't have dual boot ability from the start, you can bet it won't be very long before someone makes that happen.

Oct 3rd 2008 9:02AM I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Sounds negative but I'm not really sure. You can hook this up to a TV and play using a USB controller if you want. All you need it a fairly inexpensive cable.

Oct 3rd 2008 8:57AM Only if there are major bugs or quirks found. They aren't putting any el cheapo components on it so they won't be updating the screen or controls for a while. We shouldn't see any physically noticable rvisions like the GP2X has seen over the last few years. Unless you mean alterative case colors or designs. If demand stays high, I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with other colors.
Nintendo announces DSi with dual cameras, "DSi Shop" content store (updated) {Engadget}
Oct 2nd 2008 2:01PM Usually one (decade). That's about the lifecycle. About three more years (at the earliest) and Nintendo and Sony will put out some new ones. As long as they keep selling the current generation, there's no need to put out the next. If all it takes is a cheap camera and a regular SD card slot to make everyone go out and repay the $180 for the same thing then that's exactly what they are going to do (and people are obviously digging it).
