I find it very difficult trying to decide which group in this "battle" is more annoying. In a way I want to say that the Apple wanna-be hipsters are the most annoying, but then I read comments from the anti-Apple hipsters pointing out how all Apple users are clueless/sheep/etc and I despise them even more than I do the original annoying Apple dorks. Let it go people, use what you want to use and stop arguing over this crap. No non-annoying person argues this stuff, so if you have chosen a side in this "battle" then it might be time to re-evaluate your life.
Can you explain to me why any 4" screen needs 1080p? 720P is even overkill for a mobile device. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be able to record HD content with the phone to watch on a TV later, but there's no point in filling up a 32gig drive with 1080p content for playback when there's no way you can see the extra detail on a 480x320 resolution screen.

Besides, even if they do add 1080p recording it will still be a waste. No better than the camera is on the iphone they might as well record in 720p. That dinky little lens would simply not resolve the extra detail 1080p gives you. So you'd just get larger movies that don't actually look any better.
After 2 months with my E-P1 I really couldn't be much happier. I would of course like a clip on hires EVF (the lores GF1 EVF is a waste of time). The LCD has been better than expected. I'd like for it to be higher res for reviewing pics, but it has been excellent for composing pics. It's been visible in most any situation for me so far. The AF has also been fine for what it is. This is not a sports camera after all. For the type of shooting I do I have no problems with it...but of course faster AF is always welcome.

The only real changes I'd like to see are a higher res LCD (but not if it's not as visible in sunlight as the current one), a clip on EVF option, and I personally would like to have some sort of wireless flash control built in. I have zero need for an on board flash, but I'd love to have a built in RF transmitter that would allow me to remotely control external strobes via the LCD (that goes for all camera manufacturers by the way).

Oh yeah...my biggest change isn't a change at all. Just more lenses please; preferably in the pancake variety (with distance scales for manual focus).
Just search Flickr. There are plenty of really nice pics up already.

Also as far as AF speed goes...it hasn't been an issue for me in the slightest. It easily compares to entry level DSLR's like the D40/60...which aren't exactly speed demons themselves. So far I've been happier with this camera after one week then I was with any of my previous 3 DSLR's.
And it weighs 5lbs with a lens attached. Every system has its pros and cons. The trick is to pick out the one that best does what you need it to do. I to require a VF, but a great number of people couldn't care less. I always find it funny when I hand my DSLR to someone to use and they try and figure out how to compose a shot. Sadly, most people don't even think about putting their eye up to the camera these days.
Doesn't the $6,500 Canon EOS 1Ds Mk III have the same "crappy" 3" 230,000k LCD ;)
Same for me. Luckily Olympus has already stated they are working on a version with more "pro features" such as an EVF. Their main target for this camera was people that are used to P&S cameras (none of which have VF's either. Sorry, plastic peep-holes like the Canon G10 don't count), but want SLR image quality without the bulk. I'd say they nailed that concept. Now I just want an E-P2 with EVF that looks like that fan mock-up thats been floating around the interwebs.
It has two control dials for manual exposure.
P&S's dominate the market for now, but as camera phones keep getting better and better I see that cutting into P&S sales. I'm already shocked at how many people I see taking "important" pics with cell phones. It seems as though most people either don't know or don't care about image quality. I guess people think all megapixels are created equal. I think the market is eventually going to shake down and turn into something like:

Camera phones: 50%
P&S: 20%
EVIL/Large sensor compacts: 20%
DSLRs: 10%
Panasonic already has a 7-14mm f/4 (14-28mm eqv) that should work fine on this camera without an adapter. Between Olympus & Panasonic I expect them to have most of the major lenses covered within a year; they already have all the lenses most travelers & soccer moms would want. They just need to make some fast primes for portraiture, possible a fast telephoto (although I think that will remain the realm of SLRs due to size), and something like a 12-30mm f/2-4.0 zoom for people that want something faster than the kit zooms ans they're set.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
