I thought the 2100Mhz to be deployed in the US uses a different frequency uplink compared to the rest of the world's UMTS 2100Mhz deployments. Maybe I'm mistaken, or somebody else can elaborate. But I'm pretty sure 2100Mhz in the US will not be compatible with the rest of the world.
The thing with the iPod is, it just works. I can easily navigate it with one hand. I've tried lots of other MP3 player designs since I used to sell them at the store I worked at. The only one I ever thought came close (interface-wise) was the Rio Carbon. That scroll wheel with the click action and the single 'back' button was great. The Creative Zen Micro (that's the little HD one right?) is a royal pain in the ass to navigate with it's awkward button layout and flat touch pad.

I never in a million years would have paid $299 for an MP3 player, until I got a free iPod. Now that I've used one for over a year, it's great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another for $299, provided it has significant improvements..not sure the 5G is enough of a step up at this point.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I want a 13-incher. I need something with a great keyboard for typing, as this will mostly be used for note taking in class. I am absolutely smitten with the XPS 13, but I'm afraid that with its age Dell is going to give it an update soon. Any advice for someone in my shoes?"
