Hate to break it to you, but this so called waste of research they are putting into spinning disks has brought the VelociRaptor which has a far better $/gigabyte ratio (1:1ish) and still has awesome speed (120MBps read/write). Okay not as great as an SSD but then again, I can't afford something like this. I would prefer to spend the monies on something more worth while (like better graphics for example).
How great would the temperature fluctuations be? If the chip has to heat up and cool down many times a second what adverse effects would this have on the life of the chip?
"...upgrade your PC to some crappy Intel-based machine..."
Nice Ryan. Don't you think the slander could have been slightly more subtle?
Proud Vista and OSX user.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
