Pioneer announces 8th-gen plasmas with 20,000:1 contrast {Engadget}
May 9th 2007 9:08AM when it comes to contrast...it's all the marketing departments fault...having seen this display at CES I cannot wait to head out to roadshow next week to see these things in person. Pioneer just took the plasma game to another level.
Pioneer's VSA-AX1AV 7.1ch receiver with 2 x HDMI and iPod support {Engadget}
Aug 11th 2006 1:39PM Pioneer does have 2 recivers under $1500 with more than 2 HDMI in's...try the VSX-82(3 HDMI in) or the VSX-84(4 HDMI in's)...they also both support ipod audio and video

The VSX-84 is the replacement for the current VSX-74. From what I understand, the flagship piece would be rolling out in 07...so we'll have to wait a little longer to get a replacement for the 59TXi...but the wait should definitely be worth it.

Pioneer releases "1080p-compatible" 720p plasmas {Engadget HD}
Jun 10th 2006 11:36AM Why doesn't anyone mention that up to this point it has been pretty much impossible to have a 1080p plasma. When Pioneer does "introduce" their PRO-FHD1 that it will be the worlds first 50" 1080p plasma...one step at a time folks...I don't see anyone else in the plasma game coming out with a 1080p panel at 50". So while i'm sure we're all a little bit disappointed now...i'm sure we'll all be happy in the near future with Pioneer's offerings
Pioneer's new PureVision PDP-4270HD, 5070HD, and 6070HD plasmas {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2006 10:41AM The new TV's will be hitting the stores around Father's Day and the picture quality on these new panels definitely blows away the current gen panels. The new PDP's use PIONEER glass...remember Pioneer is one of the rare companies that actually manufacture their own panels. The 42 and 60 glass comes from the NEC plant that Pioneer acquired back in late 2004/early 2005 and retooled last year to produce Pioneer glass. The Pioneer line of panels never had swivel stands, only the ELITE line of panels has the swivel stand. The speakers are detachable on both the 50 and 60...and that Costco piece was not LG glass...get real...Pioneer using crappy LG glass...now that is funny. If you're going to post, at least have correct information regarding the products.
Pioneer's Elite VSX-80TXV, 81TXV, 82TXS, and 84TXSi receivers {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2006 10:23AM Speaking from a position of knowledge to the upcoming Pioneer products, I can confirm the new Elite receivers will in fact contain Faroudja scalers. Having seen,heard and played with all of these, I can say that these are going to be great receivers for Pioneer. The website update is still in progress and hopefully the site will be back up and running by Monday
