Sounds great IW... now let's get that 360 patch out to fix some of these glitches and bugs eh?
@ The Pirate

He's just asking for US sales, which -- yes, believably -- are more telling than British sales.

As for your owning the entire world... It would be far more impressive if, during that time, the British empire didn't enslave and starve it's own subjects.
Well let's just get those patches out before Christmas.
@Lucas If you use it, you'll note that the keys are actually one singular pad, not individual keys, really... so they couldn't really 'drop out' unless the whole pad fell out.
Oh hell I've been waiting for this post since the day I got the Droid and now I'm super busy and can barely answer... SHITTER.

Anyway.

I love the droid, I really really like it, but that isn't to say it could use some improvements and changes. Aside from some of the glitchy things, with the camera, etc., things that were patched or will be patched, it's worth mentioning the things done intentionally that might not change:

1) I find it somewhat odd to turn on the phone or bring it back from sleep/screen-off. The powerbutton is in a weird spot and it is not intuitive at all to turn on or turn off. Nearly everybody who picks it up wonders how to turn it on and they all have to ask how to do it. Compare this to the iPhone/iPod Touch, and knowing how to turn it on and off is second nature. Every first iPhone user natively goes for that big round button... And it works and you don't accidentilly press or or anything, it is very intuitive and it's a smart design. The Droid doesn't have room for one of those, but the button on the top of the phone to turn it on is awkward.

2) The Battery flap does come off sometimes, but it's not really that common. I did use the technique of 'home fixing it' by taking a tiny screw driver and bending the clip up a SLIGHT bit. It was on lifehacker and it took all of 5 seconds to do, and mine hasn't come off yet unless I am INTENTIONALLY taking it off. So that doesn't need to be fixed, but it got them some bad press by iPhone fanboys pretending that it's some major design problem with the phone. In truth, having owned the phone since the week it came out, the battery plate came off once when I didn't want it to ... and it didn't effect anything, I put it back on.

3) The Android notification toolbar is great, obviously, it's one of the best features of android... HOWEVER. If you get a notification and your screen is off, you have to press the button, then slide over the lock, then slide down the notification bar to get to it. SUre, it's not a major thing and it takes 2 seconds, but I'd prefer that as soon as you turn on the phone, it lists out your notifications or gives you a sneak preview on the lock screen. I don't know if they can merge this perfectly with how the lock screen works currently, but why the hell not?

4) Camera button is awkward. It works... but it's just awkward. A lot could be fixed about the camera app. It is powerful but sometimes a little too powerful and maybe not intuitive enough.

5) More home screens... I want 2 more.

6) Keyboard. The keyboard is a major reason I bought the phone but it can be, obviously, improved. It took me about 6 days to get used to typing on it without errors, but from time to time I still slide over and accidentilly send a message early, or hit the "@" or "ALT" key when I mean to hit space bar. I wouLd have liked to see a larger space bar, killing the two non-buttons on the lower bottom row. The keys on the top row are a little tight from the screen... you get used to it quickly, but still. The buttons also are not defined that well, it'd be very difficult to type while not looking.

7) On screen keyboard auto-finish suggestions are often wrong. "Haha" turns into my cousin's last name "Gahan" every time. Now, sure, I like that it learns the words that I use often, like family members names and so on, but more than once I've written his last name when I meant to say "haha" while using the on screen keyboard. I know that I can go through the user dictionary, turn this off, make changes, delete, add, refine, etc., and I know that it learns my actions, but it could be better.

8) Surprisingly, I don't care about multitouch pinch/zoom. I never use it on the iPhone / iPod Touch.

9) Sometimes I accidentilly mute the phone, either with the slide or the volume controls.

10) I've made accidental phone calls more than once because if you click on a contact through a certain menu, it will call them. This is a little weird. Often times, I'll get off the phone with my gf and then immediately call her right back by accident.

11) Context menus (ie, the menu button on the bottom), doesn't always respond how you'd think it would... Sometimes a native app does not have a settings area, which is weird.

12) Wifi / 3G / 1x / Service can act up. My dev iPhone does the same thing, but it is very annoying. If I am connected to WiFi, and the signal is a decent signal, I WANT TO USE WIFI. The iPhone & Droid don't get it and often times just stick to using whatever your wireless service is at the time and it's wicked annoying. I get spotty service in my basement, but I have a wireless router RIGHT THERE and so it's a 100% connection to that, 54mbps or whatever, on my 60mbps downstream from Charter. So... If I'm getting my fantasy rosters on my iPhone or Droid, and if I am using WiFi, I don't want it to default to the 1bar of service and the 1x or barely functioning 3G in my basement, I want it to use the Wifi, like I told it to.

The fix on both phones is to turn on airplane mode and then turn on wifi manually... but this is a freaking pain. If you have a Wifi connection, and if it is a good connection, then it ought to use that connection 100% of the time to do data intensive things. Part of me thinks its a Verizon/AT&T conspiracy to force people to use more data, but I doubt that anyway.

Anyway.

I think those are my major "What I would change." Again, I love the phone, I absolutely love it now, and it has changed my life in many ways, which sounds crazy, but it has. I used to get my work email on my (I have an iPhone from work w/ low data and limited minutes for mobile development, we share it in a division), but the native exchange app on the iPhone is a chore and I don't want to have to check my email to have to "Check my email." I am a google power user as well, and iPhones google support is okay at best. The droid totally changed that for me, with integrated Google Voice, integrated Google talk, integrated Gmail, and a totally 100% functioning and useable exchange mail app, along with integrated calendars, it really makes a big difference for me. No longer to I have to jump onto my computer before going to work to check email, I can hit it right from bed and know if I have an emergency or something like that... it's really done a lot.

Anyway, yeah, I think that's my functioning list. I'm 5 pages down in the comments because I Didn't see this earlier, but I'm hoping it still gets read by someone... :)
Damn I want that battery app for my Droid.
Any similar ones ont he market place?
I've been nice. I do the old lady's driveway across the street when it snows... even though she's totally weird.
I didn't think that the comments of an article could possibly surpass the stupidity of the topic of this article, but, alas, I was proved wrong.
I find this not unlike the 'energy efficient' lights that are IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE until you are immediately in front of them.
Oh, amidst the complaints, let's just all admit: we're jealous.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
