The keyboard must be approximately eight inches from the base and hopefully on a flat/level service in order for it to work properly and consistenly. I have marked spot on my desk with a tiny piece of tape so I know exactly where to place. It now works perfect time every time. I'm typing right now with perfect key hits. Hope this is helpful. I would add that the eight or more inches as stated above in the lap works too! The key is in the distance. Have an amzing day!!!
