Titanic could have had a much happier ending if Jack or Rose would have had one of these. But Leo's character died so I guess it wasn't all for naught.
I don't know if anyone has beat me to it... but I just downloaded a song from the iTMS over Edge on T-Mobile (in the U.S.).... so it's not just 3G... edge too!!!
This is clearly a BlackBerry knock-off.
This makes my wiener floppy.
And also, I think it should to be brought to attention that one of the reasons the Aspire One is going to be moving so many units is because of it's wide and prominent availability at Wal-Mart. I'm sure by now we're all familiar with the One Laptop Per Child initiative... Think of Wal-Mart availability as the OLPT (one laptop per trailer) movement. Acer could easily sell 14 million of these within a year and a half as long as their deal with Wal-Mart holds. The fact that I saw one of these on display there is the main reason for me buying one... they're just so astonishing and breathtaking to see in person for the first time that for $348, I wasn't afraid (rather, actually kind of excited) to purchase on the spur of the moment without regard to reading any reviews or knowing anything about it first. Great job Acer! Asus paved the way, but Acer is playing a smart game right now. That my dime's worth.
Agreed-- it's the one small thing a man can have that the chicks can't wait to get ahold of. She'll never complain that your aspire one is too small.
I felt out of place reading a thread that hadn't yet referenced the iPhone in some way (temporarily thinking I was on some *other* tech site)... so for anyone else feeling lost, never fear: "iPhone." You're on Engadget. I just hope it plays doom.
I agree LordJohn-- they're having a great deal right now and I ordered my kindle two days ago effectively only paying $259.00 by the time all is said and done (a $70 instant discount by signing up for their Amazon Visa card and another $30 credited to my first statement as well). I had been on the fence about getting one since they came out, but the recent promotion finally pushed me over and I don't feel cheated at all. It's a great bargain for a great device. Sure it doesn't look the coolest, but it's extremely functional with a great wireless never-have-to-sync feature built-in, letting me download a fresh read anywhere, and besides... when was the last time a true bookworm cared if he was cool or not? I'm not in the reading game to pick up chicks, I'm in it to keep my mind sharp and with the recent promotion it was too sweet of a deal to pass up.
Fortunately, most of those who would be buying this don't have that problem to worry about
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
