OK, fair enough - I have all kinds of internet blocks at work so I couldn't see the video.

Still - what do we do, truck tons of ocean water to inland areas? What do the trucks run on?
Water for fuel? Seriously? I'm a little hazy on the exact science of this, but I'm PRETTY SURE that fresh water is an extremely limited commodity on our planet.

I'm 100% for new technologies and green everything. But this seems like some brainy guy in the back room figured out how to make this car and some idiot in the front room said "Brilliant! Do it!"
Sorry to be a CFL fanboy, but you can get full-spectrum CFLs - bluemaxlighting.com. They are cooler than the usual "soft white" bulbs most people get (duh) but I have one by my computer and love it.
Most compact fluorescents (aka CFLs) come in standard-looking styles like the old incandescents. They just put a glass globe around the "rollercoaster."

And just in case someone yells "mercury!", I know, I know: but they are reducing mercury in CFLs and if you actually bring it back to the hardware store when it's gone out (years later) they can recycle them.
A win for everyone, I'd say, though I agree that this probably a money-making scheme more than anything else.

@ David: OK, it's not exactly cheap, but check this out: http://www.inhabitat.com/2006/11/15/quiet-revolution-wind-turbine/
Yeah, great for intricate surgery; just don't replace your internists etc. with robots, please!
And now, ladies and gentlemen, some Zen:

If I'm the idiot you're referring to, phanbouy, my point was:

Climate change: environmental force that affects everyone.
UV radiation, earthquakes, tidal patterns: environmental forces that affect everyone.

So I'm in support of research to understand and prevent anthropogenic climate change on a large scale. Got it? Or am I still making false equivalents?
So have UV radiation and tidal patterns and earthquakes. That doesn't mean we shouldn't study them to see how they do and will effect us - especially given how incredibly fast the human race has taken over this planet.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
