I think there has been a mistake. I have tracked this back as far as I could and nowhere does it state straight forward that it is a rear view mirror, except for engadget.

Someone may have jumped to a conclusion based on the shape, although it is more shaped like an instrument cluster than anything else. What would be the point for a rear view mirror with this functionality?

So really it is a good looking new solution that will make cars feel more "open" and "clean".
great for use in some remote jungle in africa with no scanners available, oh, but there would propably not be 3G or Wifi service either.
Not really something new. Old kit kar that has been around since 2002. Dont know what happened in the mean time but this is what it used to be (see link).

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
