The V-phone is not an add on to your existing account. It is a SECOND account you pay full price for, and it requires a second number.

Of course you can now have JUST the V-phone without having an account using the ATA.

Myself, I ended up with http://VoiceStick.com They invented the the USB drive phone.

You can use with ONE account the Softphone (Either a download or their $9.99 stick) an ATA or use the bridge to use your cell phone on the cheap VOIP (No internet broadband needed !)

Does not EVERYTHING look E-bayish :)

Oh BTW I use a combo of Skype for my free out going calls and http://voicestick.com for my free incoming line, voice mail.... They gave me a $5 call out credit, seems to work as well as Skype. Like there dialer better.

Google talk is VERY clear sounding. I am interested in the WI Fi angle.
I just got my Mac up and running with a softphone program that is running on Http://www.voicestick.com

I looked all over for a Mac softphone and this software and service work just fine.

Glad to see Mac support in this area.
WOW, how funny. I too have been doing the same thing. I signed up for voicestick recently. Got a free incoming number in MY area code, got free voicemail, got a free $5 usuage allowance, and got the free Plantronics headset (ultra small) that I use on my note book.

Used the $5 credit for outcalls to other countries, and use Skype (till end of the year) to out call in the USA.

I bet I am saving $150 a month!

Helps make up for the HIGH gas prices!!!!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
