@ phinnvr6: If I could vote you up a bazillion times, I most certainly would. Your post is all TRUTH. And as much as it stings, you are right, people still buy it which in turn certainly shows some ignorance on their part. I'm admittedly one of those people... and know that the 360 is a complete and utter RIP-OFF. You failed to mention the overpriced proprietary HDD units as well. $120 for what now comes standard on the $299 PS3 slim, which can also be replaced by any hard drive of your choice, NOT proprietary!

I really hate Micro$oft when it comes to the Xbox 360. For some reason they can do all these things to the consumer and yet, they still move like hot cakes. Who's to blame? I would say my friends... why? Because they only play 360. Not one of my friends has a PS3. Not one. So as much as I love my PS3... It sits and collects dust while my 360 gets all the action. It's a sad, sad state of affairs and I can only hope that next gen... Micro$oft get shit on for treating their customers like blind drooling fools who will buy anything marked "Xbox."

Finally??? A year head start on the PS3 and Microsoft still has not figured out how to cut the size of the behemoth that is the Xbox 360... let alone fix the RRoD problems.

Wow. This is why Microsoft should stick to software.

Although, don't get me wrong... I love my 360, yes, even more then my PS3. It's the software/online experience that makes a system. I just hate that nothing's really improved/changed with it hardware wise since its inception. I've been craving a slim 360 and ya know... I doubt we will ever, ever see one.

Unless of course, Ben Heck worked for Microsoft... Ben, you there?
@ George: I never said, serious... just solid. As in, not broken. This design is broken and eliminates any chance of using the amazing Genesis, SNES, etc emulators on the android platform. I've never seen a Genesis/SNES controller with a d-pad on the right side and the buttons on the left... nor do I want to. And this goes for any gaming controller for that matter. It really makes zero sense to have it on the right side.

@ Someperson: Haha... you and me both my friend. I like the Morrison alot, however the design is very, umm, plastic crappitdy. It's barely a step up from the G1. Really the d-pad is the only thing that sets it apart. Don't get me wrong, I love my G1... but I want something that feels more finished and elegant(read: not cheapo plastic feeling).

@ Steel Froggy: I know... it really is all a matter of preference. If you were a gamer, you'd see the point. What would have been perfect would to include a trackball on the bottom or meaning, far right of the phone that is always exposed, whether the phone is open or closed... like the current Android phones... and put the d-pad on the left for alternate navigation/gaming. That design would be the closest to appeasing all.
@ Someperson: I don't remember seeing anyone complain about the Morrison's d-pad... but you know what, I wouldn't be surprised. You're exactly right, neither design will please all and people will bitch either way. But as far as I'm concerned... I think my points are valid on why this design choice is a crippling flaw.

Although in hindsight... it really doesn't matter as I would never get a phone on Verizon. They love to control you and your phone almost as much as Apple and AT&T. But I more make this statement because I love everything else about the phone and if it were to go to other carries, ala the Razr... I'd like that d-pad to be right where it belongs... to the left.
WTF is with the d-pad being on the right side!?!?!?!? This basically ruins any chance this phone had of being a solid platform for gaming. Even for navigation, this design fails because its on the inside and will only be used when the phone is open. I could understand this design if it were on the outside screen, as to being used in both open and closed position for easy navigation in portrait mode.

But this? This is automatic fail. It looks like the most awkward way to navigate a phone I've ever seen. Anyone who's ever held a videogame controller will vouch for this. Wow... and I thought Motorola was starting to get its act together with the Morrison... and then they do a complete 180 on the design of this phone and fuck up the layout. Bravo Motorola, Bravo.
@ Freedom Town:
Exactly. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone here.

Drooling!? Wow. Just, wow. The gaming industry is destined for sh*t quality games full of short-term profit, all the while alienating its hardcore audience... Yeaaah, that's definitely drool-worthy.
@ Sisyphus:
In writing that, I knew this would come up. Yes, I know its merely my opinion... And Yes, I am aware that I could be the only one that feels like this... which is why I stated I AM scared sh*tless. All this time, I have been very quiet on this subject... hoping it would go away. But as days/weeks/months pass, the talks have only gotten louder and louder.

And one can only ask, WHY!? As far as I know, actual "GAMERS" have nothing but bad things to say about the Wii. And before that issue comes up... Let me clarify that I have tried the Wii and I thought it was full of suck. My best reasoning is simply that you feel like you have a lot LESS control over what's happening as opposed to actual controllers. Also, as stated, because I don't want to be running up walls, kicking and punching, jumping like a monkey, etc... just to barely achieve what I could instantly with a few button presses. The whole idea is completely assinine.

I see where some people love the Wii. People that have difficulty using controllers with buttons... Old people, young kids, adults who don't really like video games... etc. But for people that need pinpoint precision controlling when playing a videogame... This "I am the controller" business is FAIL and I'm sick of hearing about it. I would love to see a poll of actual gamers and where they stand on this subject.

Let me ask you a simple question Sisyphus to help me understand... why are you "drooling" over this?
This whole "You are the controller" crazyness is really starting to scare me. At first, I was like ah, whatever... its a niche market and only marketed for people who don't like, or don't have the coordination to control videogames... Basically people who have a Wii, who think controllers "have too many buttons" etc.

But more and more I am hearing from people that matter, people like Epic in this example... talking about how this is the direction of where videogames are headed. And as I stated above... That absolutely scares the ever living sh*t out of me. I don't want to be a controller! NO, that is not what I, as a gamer, want in videogames. Why in the hell would I want to work up a sweat, jumping through hoops, kicking, punching, basically acting like a god damned bafoon... just to kind of control my character in a videogame??? How does this offer me a better experience, or worst yet, better control over a standard controller?

I got news for these dopes who keep promoting Natal and the likes as the "next big thing." Real gamers like me don't want this... what we want is virtual reality, where you feel immersed in the game, but don't actually have to be acting a fool to accomplish it. Think of the Matrix, and then you'll know where I want videogames to go. Now that is what I call f'ing immersion and control. Not jumping around waving a childish "wii-mote" or "wand" or whatever the hell it is.
After owning both the iPhone and now, the G1... I have to say that this phone dissapoints in the lack of a physical keyboard. There really is no comparison between the two. Especially when you factor in VG emulators which absolutely suck and are completely unplayable on touchscreen phones *cough* iPhone *cough*.

Now if you don't do much txting, or typing of emails and could really care less about playing videogames on your phone... Then yes, I can see how this would be the "best android phone" or whatever... But for me... The G1 is still the king.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
