Samsung launches 10.2-megapixel L210 point-and-shoot {Engadget}

Mar 27th 2008 10:10PM It's amazing how companies like Samsung try to compete with me-too products such as this.

Wouldn't it be cool if Samsung, Olympus, Pentax or some other less-successful camera maker were to offer a pocketable model like this with a really good optical viewfinder, snap-on LCD cover and lugs on both sides, so the camera could be slung over the neck, using a neck strap, and carried safely in a shirt pocket?

Then, make all dials, buttons and markings big enough that even older men with big fingers and less-than-20/20 vision could use the camera without it being a trial. Maybe even offer lighted dials and markings.

The old saying goes, "Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door." The camera manufacturing business seems intent on building lowest-common-denominator, me-too designs, only to see model after model end up on clearance shelves or being sold at distress prices as refurbs.

NVIDIA drivers responsible for nearly 30% of Vista crashes in 2007 {Engadget}

Mar 27th 2008 9:40PM Gates would do well to sign a save-XP petition. Vista seems designed from the ground up as an XP selling tool, and it's an excellent one.

The sharpest business move Steve Ballmer could make is to package XP Home SP3 as Vista Penultimate (No Longer a Huge PITA) Edition and sell it as a $299 upgrade.
