Nov 23rd 2008 9:52PM "...which is a $100 upgrade over the standard 4GB SSD." I think phrasing it: "which is a $25 upgrade over the 16GB SSD model" is more useful as it's really quite hard to believe that many are ordering the 4GB version these days.
BlackBerry Storm: the aftermath {Engadget}
Nov 23rd 2008 8:52PM Dearest Verizon,
I *desperately* wanted to love--or even like--the uber-hyped latest issue from your and RIM's loins--particularly as you are my only reasonable choice given the RF and carrier vagaries of my central California geographic milieu...
Unfortunately, following brief, intense--stormy--encounters with this newest and slickest of slates over the course of two 15 minute sessions at your local corporate store I found the Imperfect Storm *so* annoying and *so* off-putting regarding laggardly subprime UI and what I can only describe as generalized reek of 'not-ready-for-prime-timeness' -- that I just couldn't pull the trigger...
Hell's bells--now my fall-back plan's reduced to waiting for the next iteration of the iPhone (June or July '09?) and praying that AT&T's slapped up enough new towerage in my area by then that they represent a viable alternative; until then, I guess there's always the Dare, though admittedly, it pales by caparison (horse drawn metaphor).
My underlying fear? Verizon has become the de facto 'GM' of cell providers and through ongoing paucity of leadership/innovation and demonstrated and undoubtedly unsustainable self-satisfied smugness--is inexorably transmogrifying 'illustrious carrier' into 'ignominious carrion'...
Sincerely yours,
Smart-phoneless in San Luis (Obispo, that is)
