@Bomberman Why are you hating on Engdadget for reporting new, interesting things? You got no time for the messenger, got no regard for the thing that you don't understand. You've got no fear of the underdog. That's why you will not survive!
You missed six "r"s and an "h" . . . .
You've kinda answered your own question. Obviously, it's always better to have Wi-Fi than to not have it (choice>no choice), but I'm guessing that Verizon feels that their 3g coverage is broad enough to force reliance on it (compared to AT&T, which -- at least until the expansion is completed -- really depends on Wi-Fi to fill the gap for them).
If the goal is just to rip off the songs, why even bother with Napster?
@ Prokanda

Wow, so intense, so angry AND so anal?

Truly, you are the king of the internet.
You're a liar, and a bad one. A bad reader, besides: there's no issue with "all the other songs that you download," because it's a streaming service.
@ Rey:

Actually, it is technically free. The price of the Zune Pass never changed; they simply expanded the benefits. I guess you can say that the 10 free downloads are included in the price, but for the people who had the service the month before they enacted the policy, there was definitely an additional value added.

It's like Watch It Now with Netflix: I'm paying the same amount as I was before it existed, but I've gotten an additional service at the same price. From my perspective, Watch It Now was added for free...
Wow... bittorrent. You guys are so l33t.
While the UMS support is great, it means that this will not likely be compatible with subscription models. I know it's not popular, but I've become addicted to the Zune Pass, and would need a compatible player before I made a switch. Most "Plays for Sure" devices will work with Zune tracks (though you'll need to use WM10 or Rhapsody to transfer files), but I'm holding out to see what the Zune HD has to offer.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
