Sunday Night Football Live Chat: New England at San Diego {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Oct 13th 2008 10:28AM You know what's absurd? Your comments.

Video taping signals doesn't help during games. It helps over the long term as an archive is built up for a team. Since every team is allowed to tape the coaches from enclosed areas within the stadium, all teams have such archives. The Pats simply taped their opponents from a location that was not allowed.

Anyone who thinks video taping signals can be used in real time to gain an advantage is delusional. There isn't enough time on the play clock to watch signals, interpret them, decide which one is the real signal, and then signal the QB before the radio in the helmet cuts off (with 20-seconds left on the play clock, IIRC).

Oct 13th 2008 12:00AM Cassel is the problem. He should have been cut at the end of training camp. I'd rather see Guitierrez or O'Connell at this point. Cassel can't read defenses and can't progress through his reads. He simply holds the ball too long and then tries to run.

What's Wrong With Laurence Maroney? {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Oct 12th 2008 2:06PM They should start Guitierrez (who should have made the roster over Cassel) or O'Connell. Cassel is awful.

Curses Are Not Real {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Oct 5th 2008 10:35AM Thank you. The Cubbies are not cursed. Hell, they can't even decide what supposedly caused or started their curse. The Cubs have simply been a rather pathetic franchise for most of the last 100 years. They haven't consistently fielded competitive teams capable of making the playoffs let alone winning the World Series. Their recent playoff failures are nothing more than that. The Angels haven't had any postseason success since 2002. Are they cursed, too? Of course not.

Real or not, the Red Sox at least had a single event that seemed to trigger 86 years of heartbreak and near misses. The painful losses in the World Series in '46, '67, '75, and '86 coupled with the excruciating one game playoff loss in '78 and the crushing game 7 defeat in the 2003 ALCS made the Curse of the Bambino at least seem possible to the fans.

Having the rug ripped out from under you is certainly more painful than simply being loveable losers.

Playoff Pulse: Weep for the Angels {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Oct 4th 2008 1:46PM The teams are reversed in your first sentence. It should read, "If the Angels can't beat the Red Sox this time around..."

Don't you employ editors?

Josh Beckett Cleared for Game 3 {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Oct 4th 2008 12:59AM I hope that you are predicting the future. The Sox have won 8 in a row in the post season. Three against the Indians, four against the Rockies, and Game 1 against the Angels.

Cuddyer: 'We Had to Take a Chance' {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Oct 1st 2008 12:18PM Pierzynski loveable? Oh, that must be what they call sarcasm.

He's hated by fans of every team in the league but his own.

Chevy Volt hits the road, video style {Engadget}

Sep 20th 2008 9:10PM I bet that "eco-friendly" vehicles, such as hybrids and electric cars, would really see a spike in sales if they looked like regular cars. Not every environmentally conscious person is a self-righteous douchebag who wants attention for driving a hybrid.

I know that a few cars offer a hybrid model, but even they have a shiny badge of honor to declare their status to the world.

Just make a decent car and don't make it obvious.

Verizon promises increased interactivity for FiOS TV customers {Engadget}

Sep 20th 2008 9:32AM The 1.6 IMG software update is supposed to vastly improve menu response times, including VOD access. The update also includes the interactive features. There are new widgets, including games and the ability to follow your ESPN fantasy football scoring.

The issue is that Verizon keeps running into problems with the rollout of the software. Several major markets that were supposed to receive the software already have been delayed indefinitely. There are now rumors that the software is being modified to version 1.61 before a continued rollout. Hopefully Verizon can get the bugs squashed soon and the updates installed by early October.
