You've got it backwards... SPEs are actually cool, it's the PPE that sucks. Yeah code compiles for it easy, but getting any performance out of the architecture sucks (unlike the SPEs).
It's because they are... Don't try to figure it, just accept them for the idiots they are... :P
Christ all you idiots should have your tech cred revoked! The whole point is to demonstrate that the hardware has the ability to decode and playback the file. It doesn't matter if it's on the screen or via TV out (well it is if you want to enjoy the resolution, but the ability to decode is the critical aspect). Playing back a 1080p H.264 video; even if it's being down scaled to the built in screen (which requires additional processing resources) is impressive although not too terribly surprising considering that the 3GS is rumoured to have a SGX535+VXD390.
Agreed, even my G9 is still 12MP vs. the G11's 10MP. Granted I don't fully blame camera manufacturers for pursuing higher resolutions as ill informed consumers and salespersons have long been pushing mega-pixels as a distinguishing aspect between models for years. Talk to any engineer who's been working on digital cameras for years and you'll hear all sorts of grumbling over it. Seems as though there's becoming enough of a perception that mega-pixels aren't the be all that manufacturers can feel comfortable enough to push more reasonable resolutions without worrying about a competitor one upping them by a mega-pixel.
And what bandwagon would that be? Sony was already partnered and has been offering public works via Google before Barnes & Noble got into the game (and had an ebook store providing for it's readers long before there was Kindle). The *only* news about this is that the catalog just bumped up from 500,000 to 1 million titles.
"“Johnathan’s experience with high-end computing has given him a unique insight into the disruption our core technology brings to all levels of computing,” said Steve Wozniak, chief scientist of Fusion-io."

Whoa, wait, did I read that right? Woz works @Fusion-Io, or just some bloke who just happens to be lucky to have the same name?
Being gapless isn't so much a function of the player as it is the codec and container format. E.g. ATRAC has always been gapless (having roots in CD dubbing). MP3 is not, although LAME hacked on (i.e. non-spec) support for doing gapless playback if your MP3 decoder can read the gapless hints that LAME provides. AAC is not gapless, however the MP4 container does support gapless playback, ergo you *can* do gapless playback of AAC as long as it's in an MP4 container.
Yeah, but the US models won't support ATRAC...
Yeah, sorta like how they do now with PSN downloads... Oh wait, they don't...
No, your stupidity is. Why don't you just use an MS Duo to MicroSD adaptor?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
