Eee PC 1000H gets a $100 price drop {Engadget}
Jul 19th 2008 5:47PM I agree - I don't understand spending this kind of money on a "sub-notebook" While this does have much more processing power, for the price it's nearing much closer to the prices of economy notebooks.
At $549 it's not bad, but whatever happened to the their original intention of a cheap, very portable notebook with a decent screen size (7"-9").
Asus keeps releasing more and more models I'm completely confused as to what is the best "NetBooK" out there.
The Dell's new E laptop is really appealing with it's very low starting price. Can't wait until that comes out.
iPhone 3G and firmware 2.0: one week later {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2008 12:36AM haha, soooo true. How many iPhone 3G articles are really necessary here? This device isn't all that much different from the original, just faster speeds. 'Tis all.
I can totally see "iPhone 3G V. iPhone 3G .... fight!" --- *yawn*
Lenovo IdeaPad hands-on {Engadget}
Jul 15th 2008 9:17PM Holy hell ... these pictures remind me of all the hatred I know for glossy screens. This Lenovo takes it to a whole new level. Imagine trying to type anything on battery power and your display dimmed to conserve power.
The hinge is just like the Studio, which the Studio copied the Lenovo.
Either way, looks sharp -- but the glossy screens ruin it for me.
iPhone activation servers back online; stock updates from around the world {Engadget}
Jul 11th 2008 4:48PM Are you kidding me? How does Apple hype this thing that much, it's not THAT different than the previous phone. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool little device, but is it worth sitting in line for --- for hours?

Jul 11th 2008 4:42PM Amazing how in a slumping economy and well over $4 a gallon for gas that people can go ahead and just waste their time waiting this long in line, not to mention it's price and crazy contract.
4.5 hour battery life? Ugh - you've got to be kidding me. 3G coverage spotty at best. The outside technology really needs to mature to be charging prices like this. It's not so much the $199 hardware price, but the insane idea that you HAVE to use AT&T and you're stuck with very little flexibility.
Acer's G24 gaming monitor with world's best contrast {Engadget}
Jul 4th 2008 2:37AM I agree, that orange color scheme is very ugly. I guess orange is the new gamer extreme color. I have nothing bad to say about their LCDs though; my parents have a 22" LCD from Acer; excellent picture quality through and through.
Gateway updates bevy of laptops / desktops in one fell swoop {Engadget}
Jun 30th 2008 5:34PM I think for what they offer, Gateway laptops are pretty good. My past laptop had pretty good built quality. I only had it roughly 6 to 7 months strictly because the keyboard was too spongy to type on. It was awful. I think the new gateways are getting better and better. This article is a testament to that.
Local public school students get assigned Zunes {Engadget}
Jun 29th 2008 9:40PM Jared's right -- the Zune hardware is very good .... the software on the other hand isn't the best. It's okay, and it's getting better, if they would just make it possible to utilize the space as a hard drive ...I'd really give up my iPod and get the Zune80. It's a sharp device; no EQ or not.
Local public school students get assigned Zunes {Engadget}
Jun 29th 2008 9:37PM Are you an idiot? It's obvious that she has a black 80GB Zune in her hand, just look at the contours of the device. Darker metal, more rectangular not rounded..... uh... yeah Zune.
Dell's new Studio laptops in the wild {Engadget}
Jun 27th 2008 2:42AM I completely agree with your statement, glossy screens are the devil. However, thanks to a post on Dell's "IdeaStorm" website and Notebook & Laptop review. I just purchased a Anti-Glare filter for my Dell XPS M1330 which cuts down on the glare tremendously. Take a look @ www.buyviewguard.com
A little pricey; but better than most filters out there. Not only that, it's the cheapest way to alieveate one of the biggest problems with notebooks. Seems like 90% of notebooks these days all have glossy type screens. That novetly of higher contrasts "etc", wore off LONG ago.
