Sadly, people would buy this.
you'd be paying for it year round too!
he might not be happy that he has to wait till after the holidays for the car.

On the other hand, he might not mind the wait
a good ultraportable isn't as small as a netbook, and they are NOWHERE near as fast as a fast desktop
Now that I think about it, it would be great if Apple came out with a Netbook in the sub-$500 range. Atom processor (or maybe a newer version by the time they introduce it), 1-2 Gb RAM, 64-128 Gb SSD (or a SSD-HDD combo), 10-12 in. screen. Basically a cheap, slightly underpowered Macbook Air.
there is NO way i could use a netbook as a primary computer. Truthfully there are very few laptops, except for the gaming ones, that I could use as a primary computer. I would use a netbook as a laptop in addition to a powerful desktop. When Netbooks get a little bit faster, I would like to buy one for internet, word processing and maybe watching some downloaded movies if I am on vacation.
they say it might be difficult to use outside; i think it would be difficult to use anywhere but in a room where it is pitch black
they need to put faster CPU's in these and/or lower the price.

If they don't they should have a netbook (NOT the Air) that could be priced in the sub $800 level
this is definitely the best way to keep the kids safe. This sounds just like my car... '94 Suburban

"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
