I don't really understand why this was downranked...?

It's a prototype, a proof of concept. It's in the kilowatt range. If everything works out, they'll be building megawatt plants in a few years.

You'd think that on a tech-site people would understand the concept of "testing".
Norway, which derives over 90% of its power from hydroelectricity, decided years ago not to build any new dams, because of the huge changes to the enviroment they involve.

That doesn't mean it stopped raining here, so finding a different way to take advantage of the over-abundance of fresh water seems like a brilliant idea to me.
As Chippy remarks over at umpcportal, with 2.5 hours of battery, it's simply not up to the current UMPC standard set by Viliv at all.
Here I stayed away from Engadget for a few days, expecting them to quickly sort out their new UI, and what do I see? They haven't!

What kind of genius decided that on the front page, articles have to hug the left border?! It doesn't make it easier to read, it doesn't look 'cool and hip', and it most certainly doesn't make Engadget feel like a place of high tech, when they can't even seem to manage basic web design.
That doesn't mean they support invididual files larger than 2gb.
You americans get ripped off (and that goes for any other -cans as well in other countries where it is similar).

In my part of the north pole, we the monthly prices differ depending on if you're subsidising a phone through them or not. So bringing a calculator when looking at phones and plans are always a good idea to see if you're getting a good deal or not :) I've saved money both on buying a phone subsidised and later on buying one unlocked.
I'm pretty sure this isn't aimed at D300 users looking for an upgrade...

This is more like when games are released in an ultimate super edition with one extra bonus level or something.

It's for the people who didn't have it previously.
It's a Rolex. A Ferrari. A big yacht you don't even have the proper papers to be the captain of. You get the idea :)
Not everyone who reads this site cares about what is available in the states.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
